One thing I realize I really like about my 3.4 Prerunner is that the visibility is excellent for me personally. I am only 5'6 for what its worth.

    To compare:

    a 2001 Prerunner dimensions
    L 203"
    W 70.1"
    H 66.3-67.7"

    vs.

    2016 4 door (short bed)
    L 212.3
    W 74.4"
    H 70.6"

Anybody drive the newest gen and have any comparison?

Just bought a 2017 Access cab. I have had a 1998 access cab 4x4 and a 1991 4Runner. My new taco replaced a 2009 GMC Canyon. I am 6'2" and to me the all around visibility is pretty poor. Bigger pillars, further back seat placement and the big electronic rear view make it hard for me to see. I like the truck a lot! Visibility is definitely something I will need to get used to.

You'll find visibility in most new cars to be worse when considering the A-pillars.

It's a necessary evil with slightly reduced visibility when you get side curtain airbags and a much stronger construction.

I test drove one and it wasn't too bad. I thought the visibility was pretty good.

    Pretty much stock right now
A friend just bought a 2016 trd sport access cab. I've ridden in it as a passenger, and there is something different about the visibility. Maybe the pillars. He doesn't have any complaints, and likes the blind spot warning system built into the rear view mirrors. He owned an '03 trd prior. A very nice truck overall.
