I'm trying to fix an exhaust leak where the exhaust manifold meets the downpipe (P/N 17410-0C040, I have the CA model). I've ordered the two donut gaskets (90917-06061) but after taking off the downpipe I see there's a second, flat gasket which is not referenced anywhere in the Toyota parts list, nor have I seen anybody mention it in threads here on TW.
Do I need this second gasket or will the exhaust seal without it? It's damaged as you can see in the photo below and I can't find a replacement..

That thing has sort of a home made look to it. I replaced my exhaust manifold a few years ago, and I THINK it only used the regular exhaust gaskets where it connects to the downpipe, but I can't remember for sure.

It does look homemade, now that you mention it. I called a couple of auto parts shops in the area and they can only find the donut gaskets.

Maybe the previous owner put that in as "insurance"?

Maybe. Probably was contributing to the leak, if anything. You can see the different color on the side of the downpipe that matches where that gasket in question is broken.

You should need just those 2 gaskets. That one piece gasket is a mad out of gasket material....Just the 2 round ones should be all you need.
