Worked out perfectly. Ditched the Qi button for a future switch and moved the USB to its place next to the cigarette lighter so the cords aren't running up the center of the dash. Just a little cleaner.

Wanted to post an updated on my install; I used the VMITY harness and logo camera. I select the AV input under the "Audio" tab and this activates the camera - however it only works if the Parking Brake is on. Holding up on the left Steering wheel D Pad basically fakes the car into thinking the Parking Brake is on, and you can then use the camera while in drive. The only problem I haven't solved yet is that when going faster than 1-2 miles an hour the car emits an alarm - driving with parking brake on. Does anybody know how to disable this, or have a workaround?

Not sure about the VMITY-01, but I just installed the AVITY-01 and don't have the parking brake issue. I would verify that you plugged in the 5 button SWC plug and not the 9 button SWC plug. The AVITY was shipped with the 9 button plug connected.

hooked my up properly finally. turn on with an air on board switch which runs to a relay in my bussmann rtmr. installed an led light right next to the camera on the bottom of the license plate holder on the same circuit in parallel. haven't gotten the press and hold auto function to work but i don't mind. Not sure i hooked up to the right wires for the buttons but i don't care enough to pull everything off to figure it out. it works fine scrolling through the sources.

I came on here looking for a solution to this problem as well, did you ever figure it out? I emailed crux about the alarm but haven't heard back yet. It is not an option on Carista that we can remove.

Came to find ideas. I think losing music on the etune screen + the $100+ price tag I will just go with the cheap add on camera with a separate screen. Unless someone figures this out in a better way.

I only need it for offroading or some random tight space to worry about. It will spend the rest of the time in the glovebox.

Just get a rotary switch and splice it into the video feed wire. I have a front and right mirror camera that I use to spot myself offroad, works great!

But this only works well if you have the backup camera anytime mod too.

Does that mod work have the same wiring on 3rd gen's?
I think it's a little too invasive for my taste seeing as I've never done anything electrical. I'd have to have someone sit next to me on it or just pay them to do it.

Is there a back up camera anytime mod for 3rd gens? If yes, then yea, just figure out which line into the head unit is the camera feed, splice in, and done.

Only thread I've seen for that was in the 2nd gen forum. Didn't read through all the pages to find if it works for 3rd gen too

I did something like this on my '09. Very useful offroad.

Since the '09 had the backup camera in the rear view mirror, I was able to run the front camera to the head unit. In the 2016 the backup camera is in the head unit, so you could get one that is in the rear view for the front camera. Or figure out how to switch the rear view to the mirror in the 3rd gen.

There's a DIY for the 'camera anytime mod' on a Tundra forum that works fine with both the Taco and the T4R, I swear someone linked it here at some point, but I can't tell you where it is.
