thinking of putting 845 on my truck for winter. I currently have Megs ULW on it. Do I need to remove the ULW before applying 845?

No need to remove the ULW. 845 is often used as a "topper" for sealants. In fact, I would recommend NOT removing the ULW. Just give it a good wash and apply the 845.

When you go back to a sealant (ie. ULW), it would be recomended to remove the 845 first. The "rules" are as follows: Wax on top of sealant is ok. Sealant on top of wax is not ok (it won't hurt anything, but sealant won't bond properly- you'd be wasting your time and product).

Keep the ULW on. Just give it a gentle wash and top with 845. 845 and ULW both have fantastic durability, but even more so when they are used together.

Not sure if you know this or not-- ULW is actually a polymer sealer. It's not a wax at all. They just call it a wax for marketing purposes.

Is there any advantage to applying 845 with a DA or should I just do it by hand?

There's no benefit to using a DA to spread wax, unless its easier/faster for you. I always wax/seal by hand.

It helps spread a thin, even coat. If you spread it on too thick, you'll wear your arm off trying to remove it. It also just really saves time.

Applied 845 to my silver Tacoma. A good tip that found was to set the bottle in hot water and it thins the 845 with no more clumps. It flows nicely like a typical liquid wax. I haven't pulled the truck outside yet but I have noticed the shine is different, it actually looks like it has changed the shade of silver a little.

It makes my pyrite mica look a lot darker than normal. That's why I prefer sealants on this particular color. But I do love the beading of the Collinite. Nothing else comes close to it in that regard.

You can sit the bottle out in the sun & it will thin it out nicely also.

For any customer's vehicle I've worked on, I have always put sealants on light colors and waxes on dark colors (unless there is crazy flake in the paint in which case I'll do a sealant to avoid muting the appearance). 845 is about the only wax I'd put on white. Personal preference though.

I put a good coat of Trinova Paint Sealant on my black street princess for the winter last week. Her black paint looks dripping wet.

Been using 845 for prolly 10 years. I apply it in the spring once the snow is gone then in fall before archery season. Even a month or so after, with just a wash the truck cleans up nice.

Love the green long bed. Couldn't find one when I was looking.

Been using Collinite for years, learned about it from my Dad. Outstanding Wax. I've used 845 before, but mostly use the 476 and 915. I've learned there's a sweet spot though with removal. Wait too long and it'll be a nightmare trying to rub that stuff off. I wait until it just starts to haze and wipe off with two towels. One for the initial wipe, and then a cleaner one to follow up and remove the remainder. Also my last can of 915 went bad from temp changes being stored in my garage so now I keep it indoors in the laundry room.

Like BowHunter I try to apply it twice a year, spring and fall, following a paint cleaning.
