I have an 06 Tacoma Prerunner that is a 4 cylinder 5 speed AC. I have done a lot of great mods to the truck but am struggling with a question of whether to sell my Tacoma or not. I like to go to Baja Mexico and I feel a 4x4 would suit me better down in Baja and I could have a 4runner built how I want it slowly and still drive a regular commuter car.

** My Tacoma has 120k miles on it and has new tires and a shell. It also has some rust on the 2 doors. Just barely showing through, and am not sure how bad that will get.

If I sold my truck I would inherit part ownership of a 1991 Toyota 4 Runner. It is 4x4 with locking hubs in decent condition. This would be my build for Baja exclusively. My Tacoma is getting to small in the backseat to fit my son and my buddies son. This would allow us to go more places and to ride in a little more comfort.

I would also get a commuter car that would be a cheap to work and home car.

    What do you guys think?

What are they going for in your area? If you could get 7-10 grand, you could be a CHEAP commuter and have money left over to Mod right away. If you could take off some of your mods you could sell them on here or CL and make even more.

I remember looking forward to reading all the use cars and trucks for sale in the newspaper. Now all that stuff is in Craigslist. Fun times ahead for ya!!

Haha! Thanks for the quick reply.

My wife keeps bugging me about storage as I would have to find a place to keep it. I was pretty stoked about the idea as it seems fun and it is something I could do with my son and really enjoy.

    Not sure as of now.

Isn't the Prerunner made for Baja? Or is that just a myth I've always heard

120k miles is nothing. Think hard about your decision my friend

It is made for off-road, but pretty limited. No 4WD and the clearance is ok. I have done some mods to help with some of that. We can only travel a few places, but with 4WD that opens up a whole new world. Not really sure what to do as I wanted to ask a few of you what you thought before I made any decisions.

Thanks in advance for your wisdom. :)

By all means go for it. What do you mean by part ownership? That sounds like problems down the road to me.

My buddy owns the 4runner and wants a partner so we can go to Baja together. The build would be split between us.

But whose name is on the title/registration? Could be a problem in the future if he moves or decides to sell.
