Tire pressure for 265/70/17

    Recently purchased BFG KO2 tires size 265/70/17 for me DCLB and was wondering what tire pressure others members with the same tire are using?
    The recommended pressure for the original tire size 265/65/17 was 29 psi.

    I have the same tires on a SB and I found 38 front and 36 rear gave me the best ride. 29 psi is for the P rated stockers. After 20k miles they still have 12/32nds and are wearing evenly. Rotate every 5k, same as oil change.

    slide-in camper, OME Nitros w 884's and Dakars, Michelin A/T2, Pro EFX heated towing mirrors, Timbren HD bumpstops, KB VooDoo bed rails and tailgate cap, ImMrYo rvm bracket, G-Tek Fab door sill protectors, Ultragauge, window visors, hood deflector, Wet Okole seatcovers, in-vehicle safe.
    Try 34, then 36 or 32 and find your sweet spot. Don't want to go too soft on LT tires. The 29psi is for the stock P rated rubber, which needs less air.

    Thanks for the help. I pumped them up to 38 psi this evening and going to give that a try. I'm mostly do pavement driving with a little off roading this time of year on logging roads.

    I just had a set put on my 2015 TRD Sport access cab. The tire dealer set them at 29. I upped them to 35 today before I found this thread. I'm glad to have your input.

    Sir, I cant answer your question, but was hoping you could answer 1 for me ... I have a {all stock}2011 Tacoma, 4D.,4Wd that came with 265/65/r17 and thinking about going to 265/70/r17 like you did. Did you have any rubbing problems ? Did this change add any ground clearance ? Thank you.

    I had none at all. I can turn the wheels to the extreme and no rub. I lifted the truck about a half inch, actually made it look better.

    I run close to 50 in my e rated 265/75/16 ko2s. obviously c rated needs much less than that.

    That's too much. I went 38 front and 36 rear. for my old 265s and now on my 285s. The dealer put 50 in mine one time and I knew it right when I drove a block down the street. crappy ride.

    I actually prefer the ride with more air. Dealer put 35 in mine and the rolling resistence was horrible. I gained 2 mpg after I went up to 45. You're talking about 10-ply right?

    Yeah 10 ply. I'm all for a smoother ride over a couple mpgs. 50 just seems like a lot though. Id be interested to see a chalk test on that.

    Did you do any at various psi? Felt to me like the outsides would wear at 35. Mine don't have 1000 miles on them so I can't tell if the center is wearing more, but even if it is I prefer the ride and mileage with more pressure.

    I'm in a 16 too with a quirky transmission that is geared way too tall. With bigger heavier tires that 10psi makes a night and day difference.

    50 psi will ride better in E rated than it would in C or P rated. The heavier the tire, the more air they need. I've driven with 50 before on 10 ply ms2's (after removing my slide-in camper and before airing back down) and they didn't ride that horrible. Noticeably firmer but I survived it just fine.

    E-rated tires in general on a mid-sized truck is a bit much on top of the 50psi was my point. Some people feel they need the super crazy heavy tire and yes, some people actually do.

    My work truck calls for 59psi but it rides like a roller skate at that setting and I can barely drive up a .09% grade if there is a light dust on the hill with my concrete tires lol

    I run 34 psi front and rear on my E rated KO2's. I really need to get a compressor so I can play around with it. For now it works and the ride is good.
