I have a 2007 5 lug 2wd tacoma and was wondering if anyone knew what kind of rear locker would fit my truck?

Sometimes I wonder if getting a full time locker is the same as a welded diff ?

How can you tell if there's a locker on my truck?

A full time locker is disengaged until it senses that you need traction. This is most obvious and most important when you're making turns while daily driving around town, let's say. With a full time locker, so long as you take the turn with ease it will stay disengaged and you won't have to worry about your rear end skipping and jumping all over the place. With a welded diff, as far as I understand them (correct me if I'm wrong) you're essentially locked at all times and that would make daily driving around town a huge pain in the ass.

The only lockers for our 5 luggers are the lockright and no slip. I think the Detroit as well. We share the same axle as any other non e locked Tacoma.

A full time is locked at all times. The only allow one tire to spin faster, but not slower. They also do not disengage only over run.

I've driven my taco with the locker engaged and made turns. Nothings really wrong or hard, just not as sharp of a turn.

I had a full-time Lockrite locker in my last pickup, they dis-engage when you take turns unless a wheel loses traction. Hence the loud "clacking" sound they make when you take a turn. I drove with one for years, it is definitely not locked "full time". It locks up once a wheel starts to slip.

@Vang Toua Moua I just re-read your reply more closely and I think what you meant by 'over run' I was thinking of as "dis-engaged", I think we're on the same page...my bad

Same here except I have the e locker. It says it as well on the site. They don't disengage, that's why taking a turn you have to let off the gas. What your explaining is a posi, they have clutches that allow disengagement.

    Disregard, what I said then.
