Thanks all. That certainly wasn't my first try. Lots of re-measuring, hoping it works out.

The design isn't mine. It's a finewoodworking project. I highly recommend their plans if you do one of their projects. Takes a lot of guesswork out.

I love craftsmanship in furniture. So hard to find it unless you shop at an Amish store.

 

More pictures and details are good, but nothing urgent about it. Next time you have it set up if you can take a few more pictures that would suffice. Just food for thought for the future. Thanks!

 

Ummm... 2400W / 12V = 200A You are installing another alternator, right? And installing monster wire to feed it?

No. These were all cut with the Porter Cable dovetail jig and router. I have yet to hand cut a dovetail but I really want to try. Its on my wish list. Still need a good saw and chisels need re-sharpened.

 

Very nice dovetail work...do you have a jig or do them all by hand? Nevermind I hadnt got down to where you said you used a jig. Still nice work! I have a hard time using a jig...much less by hand.

 

I have 0 guage as is. Lol whats the stock alternator output?

 

One important thing to remember is that the wattage rating on an amp is not indicative of the wattage output for music. Amps are rated in a specific environment for marketing with sine wave inputs allowing the amps to hit an absolute power level.

2400 watts of amp may only actually use 300 watts of actual power under a musical input. That's the nature of the beast.

Having that overhead is nice, if its usable, for the peaks. Tons of other stuff going on influencing the big picture... perhaps that's another thread.

 

My 06 w/towing package has a 140A alt. BDub has a good point. You'll probably be alright.

Nice dutchman

 

Latest project in the works. This is going to be a wedding gift for a friend. Last name being Bowker, lettering will be cut and placed on top of the painted B with some additional paint work in the bottom right corner. The wife likes Dinos and the Husband is a sorta lumber jack. hehe. I really like how the little ax turned out, lol. Little bit more detailing to do on it. Have a good day everyone!

edit: After looking at the picture it looks like My B could use a little line work at the bottom to even it out. Funny how looking at something from a different point of view can bring out imperfections.

Got the butterfly/duchman cut in. This is the first time ive done it by hand. I think it looks pretty good. I love the figure in the maple. I wiped it with some mineral spirits to see the figure better.

 

Should I put a second duchman/butterfly on the left or just leave it with the one?

 

Very sharp. What are you going to use for a surface? Glass over the top, or are you going to fill in the gap with epoxy/varnish?
