The pop up I traded in was 1600 dry and close to 2000 total. This camper left the factory at 3047 lbs and nothing was added but a battery and propane tank. So shouldnt be more then 3100lbs. I really didnt notice much a difference off the highway to be honest. When I put my ATV in the back and also towed my pop up it was a bit harder then just this camper. Im soooooo mad I didnt jump on a used 2007 v6 trd same color as mine last month for like 15k 105k kms. Just sold a week ago when I called. Would have been perfect. We already have 4.10 gears apparently in our trucks so I think just getting lighter tires will help, maybe even go back to 31-32s

Also I find the camper looks a bit bigger in the pics. Its a pretty small one so the room it has and is somewhat narrow at about 7.5 feet wide

I'm only running the stock 265/65-17 so the diameter definitely comes into play. I think for towing with the 4 banger, best to keep the sizes stock. Just not quite enough power with the larger tires to pull at the high end of our limits IMHO, but I see some on this site seem to do it regularly.

Brought this to scrap couple weeks back. I guesstimate trailer and load was near 4000lbs which I wouldn't do normally but it was a short distance with no highways or big hills. I'm quite surprised at how well it handled it. There was no going anywhere in a hurry but with this 5 speed, 1st gear is low enough that taking off is smooth with the extra weight and as long as I waited till 3000-3500k rpm to shift, the truck didn't complain at all.

Cant see the picture but ya with my 5 speed I was surprised at how small a gab there was between the V6 auto for towing. Truck does more then you would think

Mine powers through pretty good.... I just went to 255/80 st maxx. I'm thinking of regearing I couldn't find a lot on it for 4 bangers here. Would 4:56 be to much? I don't do slot of interstate travel mostly back rds here in western NC. Only other plans are lce header in the near future and that's it.

I think everyone talks about 4.56 or 4.88 so I think you would be fine. Honestly I would go 4.88 myself. Thats what Im considering and I only have 32s

Love the truck and the towing!!! I want to supercharge my truck as well... I'm not sure I think I just need a v6 honestly what are you thinking of now after a few months I tow a lot of dirt bikes , 3 in bed with 3 on trailer with gear and hopefully a camper sooner than later!! But I want to keep my 2.7 cause of the low miles I have on it but still I had my last 3.4 for 304k and we bought it with 1200 miles

I may regear soon, but I just decided not to pull both at the same time. The truck pulls the camper good enough so Im happy. Hard to get rid of a truck you owned since new and know what it is, has all the towing gear like mirrors/brakes/good hitch etc. Went down to 32" tires though, 255/75/17

I'd go 4.88. Mine came with 4.30s and didn't notice much difference when I went to 4.88.
My truck has basically lived above 3k rpm for the last year since I moved to Colorado and is doing just fine

What's the average price range for doing a regear? I don't do any heavy off-roading or anything like that but don't want junk either

East Coast gear supply. I think for a whole 3rd it's around $800 with your core. Pretty easy to do yourself

The Internet! Sorry I don't have any links but I'm pretty sure there is a site somewhere where you can punch in some numbers and if you have have bigger tires it will tell you what ratio should get you close to stock performance. There's also a plethora of stuff on TW I just don't have the links.

If you had the tools and know how you could probably do both yourself for $800 maybe less. Or since it doesn't sound like you use four wheel drive much just do the rear first and pull your front drive shaft until you have the funds for the front.

Sweet, a thread I can contribute to! I got to test out my Taco's towing ability when I had to move because this guy wouldn't stay running long enough to make the 10 minute drive to my new place :p It towed it very well, no issues at all.
