1864 rifles were sold as surplus and modified thereafter in a number of ways over the years as many were not used in the ACW...but you never know.

There used to be a website that had listed every firearm made from the old Springfield armory I will need to find it

I feel like I just learned a whole lot about 19th Century firearms.

I always feel like an idiot when I change my wiper blades. I spend about 15 minutes wondering what the hell am I doing wrong and about 30 seconds swapping the blades out.

Anything is restorable, but done properly it is expensive. There is a huge difference in restoration and refinishing. I would check with Turnbull to see if they do restorations on firearms that old. Their work is absolutely amazing.

never particularly cared for the judge (great concept but I've always seen it shown to be a bad .45 and a bad .410 in the same package) but this guy is pretty good, of course he quit his day job a couple years ago to do gun videos on youtube so he may be a bit above average.

I'm intrigued by the Judge and wouldn't mind getting one. I know a few people that really like Taurus for the affordability and their lifetime warranty.

oh don't get me wrong I carry a Taurus everyday, but the judge is HUGE so very difficult to conceal, and it has a short barrel so velocity suffers greatly (unless you get a 6" I guess which makes it impossible to conceal) out of the short barrels the only shotgun rounds that even come close to the fbi penetration standards are slugs and I imagine shooting the 45lc leads to a heck of a lot of soot as there is a great deal of unfilled cylinder. and they make a "ultra light" version which I could only assume to way too much to hang on too with a 3" or hot loaded 45lc (maybe not I mean I have seen a 45-70 derringer) I mean it looks like it would be a great snake gun but at $15 a box for .410 #6 you would be about as well off to shoot .38 shotshell (which cci now makes in #4 and #12 shot) Great idea, just not very practical.
the S&W did improve a bit on the design since it holds 6 and you can shoot 45 acp with moon clips so reloads would be super easy I guess but most of the above still applies.

Why would you even want to consider concealing a judge? That's probably the last thing that revolver was designed for.

Unless maybe you're wearing a judge's robe. That'd be about the only way you could conceal it.

well I mean a shoulder harness would work, but the way I look at it, a handgun you can't carry is not a good hand gun, excluding hunting and range queens. so more of impracticality since it's definitely not designed to hunt with a 2" barrel.

That thing was made for people out in the desert or woods or out on the farm to be able to kill critters and nuisance animals and have a little protection. It's also kindof a novelty.

Just because it isn't great for carrying concealed doesn't mean it's not useful. Just not the right tool for the job. It also doesn't make sense to conceal a G34 or other full size competition or fighting gun.

Judge would make a great truck gun.

ATF approved 3 form 5320.20's (form to get approval to take SBR's, SBS's and AOW's across state lines) in just under a month, but they still haven't approved my form 4 (trust, paper file) after 3 months, 1 week, and 2 days even though I've already gotten a form 1 approved with no changes to the trust.

That's a really nice pistol. I've always liked Aero lowers. What barrel are you running?

me and a buddy went to a friends land and sighted in his deer rifle and shoot his new pistol, springfield armory xds 40. The led sled was pretty sweet, first time I ever shot off one.

some and more and more and more and
The Glock store or eBay, cheaper than dirt. Places like that. Gun shows would probably be the best though
