I know some of this will pertain to the wheel/tire section but hopefully I can get answers in one thread and be done with it since the lift is what changes all these variables.

My lift will be Icon extended travel for the front and and a 3 leaf AAL for the rear. Tires will be 285 Falken Wildpeak A/T3W. I don't mention wheel size because that's part of the question here. Wheels will be Method Double Standards.

    1. Some aftermarket UCA's claim to only work with 17" and larger wheels. I would rather run 16" wheels. I haven't quite made up my mind on which UCA's to get but am I limited on which will work with a 16" wheel? Any advice here? Is one better than the other?

    2. Has anyone had problems with the 16" Double Standard clearing the breaks? I remember reading somewhere where someone had clearance issues.

    3. Regarding 3 leaf AAL's, is there a difference? Other than price, is there really any difference between Toytec's, Wheelers', and Icons progressive AAL's? I'm leaning towards the Wheeler's based on cost alone but if there's a reason to pay a little more I will.

    4. With Icons 2.0 standard shock, is the shock long enough and have enough travel to not limit suspension travel?

    5. Should I plan on doing the carrier bearing drop or should I just wait until after the lift is installed to determine whether I need it or not?

    6. Will I need shims for the rear leafs?

I have 16x8 Method double standards w/ 4.5" of BS and I even did the Tubdra big brake upgrade and the 231mm brake calipers fit. Let alone the stock brake calipers I had on before I did the upgrade. Also I have Camburg UCA's w/ Icon 2.5 ext travel coil overs and all works fine. I have a 1.5" AAL in the rear w/ 5100's. And that set up works fine for me to. The picture of the brake upgrade was before I got the Icons. I had the Bilstein / 3" Eibach coil spring combo. But I'm only running 265/75/16's

I did the ready lift 3" spacer kit. I fit 285/75/16 Goodyear MTR Kevlar 33.1" tires. 16x8 zero offset 4.5 backspacing. The alignment was still in factory specs including toe. No rubbing or any other issues.image.jpgimage.jpg

Thank you for the replies. Those are all the UCA's I'm considering however I'm also considering JBA. As for rear springs, the only reason I'm not going with a full leaf set is because I don't haul anything in the bed and don't want a rough ride and as far as I can tell they all give too much lift for an empty bed. I don't use the Tacoma for pulling a trailer or hauling anything unless I take it camping or hunting and that isn't very often. Aside from a custom pack I don't see any options.

I'm running JBA UCAs, since you mention that is an option you are considering I thought I'd respond. I have a OME lift, running 255/85/16 and with the factory wheels I had rubbing on the UCA when turning. Backspacing is key, or adding spacers. I opted for new wheels - I got lucky and got in on the SCS Ray10 group buy. That solved my UCA rubbing. I have some light rubbing on the back fender flare which I need to trim.

If you do look at other wheels, make sure they can clear the brake calipers. The first steelie I bought for the spare would not work on the front as it rubbed the raised portion on the back of the caliper, despite all indications towards it fitting the Tacoma.
