    Why does it make it harder? It is irrelevant. It doesn't affect you one way or another. That only matters to YOUR insurance company. Everything from this point on is on your insurance company. That's why you pay them, so you can have peace of mind.

    If they try to raise your rates tell them no. If they are gonna do it anyways, then get a different company and they can lose your business.

    I agree completely.

    If we were just talking damage to the car, I'd say let your insurance handle it.

    The medical piece makes me say lawyer up; especially with Progressive "ducking" coverage.
