Hi there guys and gals. So Heres the deal, my 96 taco blew head gaskets and cracked heads so I bought a replacement engine which came out of a 97 t-100. Didnt notice it came out of a 2 wheel drive auto truck. Mine is a 4 wheel drive manual. It now has a new timing set, new valve cover gaskets , new flywheel and clutch. It didn't fit. Switched oil pans as that seemed to be why. But my crossover pipe diesnt fit on new engine_(used engine) swapped the manifolds still no fit. The question is....if I get the crossover pipe from an auto will it fit in truck? I could possibly heat and bend at the Y to make original fit but sounds not real easy but possible. Its so close but drilling holes bigger will not work. Any help appreciated as Im 700 dollars into my mechanic so far for removal, parts swap.

Just why does your cross over pipe not fit??

Does not fit between the block and firewall ??

Your exhaust system flange no longer lines up with the crossover .pipe

Was the T100 a California Emission Package having the 2 cats where you truck had just one cat??

So the cross over is configured to bolt to the front cat just might be enough to cause the problems your having

It may very well be the T100 curse

Its like 3/8" or so "short" from manifold to manifold, I dont understand it. Like the heads are different but block the same. Not sure if it will fit in truck as the motor is still out. I figured it would be easier to install out of truck. Doubtful its a California truck it came out of as Im in Minneapolis mn. Only one cat on my truck, not sure on the one motor came from. Im not against headers just more money to get it truck to work.

My crossover goes from each manifold to Y on both sides (ill get a picture today). I have a crossover from a 3.0 in garage but it is way different.

So if it was a California emissions truck, do they have different heads? I dont understand why the manifolds are the same but the crossover pipe won't fit, Im using my original manifolds and crossover pipe. Well I was trying to anyway.

Is it as simple as heating and bending the pipe Im pointing at?

I would use a spud wrench or something similar to persuade it into position. Doesn't look that severe that I would even heat it.

Im a rural kid born and bred and really really leaning to that, but that puts pressure on the exhaust manifolds and they get hot , warpage then leaks??

Did that Crossover pipe get bent pulling the engine out ??

How did it come apart ??

Having made a few crossover pipes for swaps

I would start all over with some fresh pipe and new flanges

If you get that hot enough to bend and bolt it fast without burning your hands your going to have to cool it real slow or it will pull back maybe enough to snap the studs if they are not new

This looks like old pipe that has thermal cycled for years.

Yes its 260,000 miles old. And I would heat it and cool it and made sure no stress when bolted up. Maybe I should have a custom shop make one since motor is out. I can bring it in my other truck.

Never thought under heat shield would be flex pipe. But it is, so ill just pressure test it for leaks and go from there.
