This is a job for those trained in crisis/emergency/disaster relief. Our men and women in uniform can do it. Although I fear it will leave many a scar on one's pschye that wanders into this disaster. The last time our troops saw this many dead in one place was WWII.

We stopped in Haiti on our honeymoon cruise, it wasnt mainland Haiti it was Peninsula off of Haiti(Labadee). The poverty we saw there wasnt as bad as in Jamaica but again it was a nicer cleaner version of the country. We sailed Royal Carribean and were in Haiti when 9/11 happened, now that was some scary shit.

    Quick lesson on Haitian geography/Labodi:

Port-au-Prince is on the interior joint of the "claw". It is in the south. Labodi is on the north shore nearly into Dominican Rebublic. The flight distance between PaP and Labodi (or Labadee) is about 85 miles....Roads is even farther because it's thru the jungle and hills to make the trip on foot/by car. So no one is going into PaP to help or get mugged or eaten alive or anything

The "port" the RCC pulls into is a private resort area- Not even a town or anything for tourists to go it. It's just the RCC shore side staff working in the compound. As far as "using up supplies"-I hope RCC is making donations/efforts to help PaP- but most of what is there they bring in themselves.

Haiti is a beautiful country (in places-Just like the US)...and was a great place to travel to if you have the chance (doubly so if you are doing philanthropic/volunteer work.) Now- It'll be a bit rough for awhile- but it's still got potential as a great country (political issues aside).

Where you do draw the line- DR is a big vacation destination too- It's the same island as Haiti-Only separated by an imaginary line. Would you go there?? Should anyone anywhere go on any vacations cause there are people suffering in Haiti??

Edit: I took the "Yes-helps economy" option- It'll keep aid flowing into the area for distribution (like RCC says they have already) and it'll keep the area busy which will occupy people.
