Check engine light pops on WITH a traction control light as well. Code scanner indicates 0031 and 0032 so I test the Upstream 02/AFS and it's heater circuit is confirmed to be open via a voltmeter OHM test.

So I buy and install a new one AFS/o2 (A denso 234-9050 from e-bay @$99) and it installs pretty easy and straight forward.

I still get a check engine light and now the truck surges in a rhythmic pattern that is more noticeable when under load such as going uphill or on a hard acceleration.

I have checked and cleaned the MAF and checked for broken hoses, nothing.

The truck has only 40,000 miles on it and is very clean and not abused. All underhood Rubber looks to be brand new.

    Another code scanner shows 0031, 0032, C1201 and C1241.

Any advice or help would be very much appreciated.

I have the same problem with mine. Need a new o2 sensor and read C1241. I've read some forum posts and it could be problems with the battery. Mine came on after I floored it to get passed a semi.
