I know this seems like a pretty silly question. But in my old tacoma (1st Gen) I was able to spin my rear tires around corners when it was wet and get a little sideways. Super fun when I mean to get a little sideways.

Anywho, I tried this on my truck this weekend and I can not spin the tires with traction control on, so I tuned it off and it automatically turns on Auto LSD so it spins the tires but the LSD kicks in, I'm sure you know how that goes...

Is there a way to turn on LSD and traction control so I can spin the tires and do donuts?

Press and hold the traction control button for a couple of seconds

Just remember when you turn off TRAC and VSC your essentially opening your diff so you will probably only get one wheel that spins.

Works for me, easier to throw out the backend! I seriously rarely due this by the way, just when it is wet and no one is around.

Just be careful. All it takes is catching traction to grenade the diff

Doesn't the LSD option on these trucks retard the timing and Kill acceleration? I have been trying to figure out all the different modes of traction control on these trucks. Seems like every time the Auto LSD light is on, I lose a ton of power.

See my link on this, in my sig (much of it applies still, even with newer changes)...

The names Toyota uses are confusing...

AUTO LSD (in 2WD) and TRAC OFF (in 4WD-HI) are BOTH the same level of traction control: more than the standard TRAC that the truck is in.

AUTO LSD and TRAC OFF are BOTH limited slip systems that have NO engine output regulation, so gives the truck "more power" to get moving from a stop or stuck using only brake control on spinning tires.

TRAC alone has both engine regulation and brake control.

To the OP, these are nice trucks and not for spinning donuts with, so try and get over that. They add these systems to stop stupid driving that rolls the truck and hurts people.

However, just so you have control over these computer assisted vehicles, what arnette64 posted is what you need to do. Turning off VSC and TRAC is only temporary and when you restart the truck, the TRAC and VSC will go back to normal operation... or if the truck senses you are driving stupid, it will reactivate the VSC. HAL is in charge! LOL

Here is the sheet I made for the changes done in 2012 to 2015... while you have A-TRAC incorporated into the CRAWL and MTS systems in 2016, this may still help you with the modes:

    Press Nothing...

H2= TRAC (Limited Slip with Engine Output Regulation)
H4= TRAC (Limited Slip with Engine Output Regulation, front and rear)
    L4= No Traction Control
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quick Press (VSC OFF SWITCH) moving or stopped...

H2= AUTO LSD (Limited Slip without Engine Output Regulation, VSC OFF to 30 mph)
H4= TRAC OFF (Limited Slip without Engine Output Regulation)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Press and Hold In 3-5 seconds (VSC OFF SWITCH) while stopped...
H2= VSC OFF (No Traction Control)
H4= VSC OFF (No Traction Control)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Off Road TRD:

Quick Press of RR Lock Switch = Rear differential Locker (L4 only on 4WD models)
L4 Only: Quick Press of A-TRAC Switch = Front and Rear near-no slip traction control. A-TRAC works the front below 3 mph when the Rear Locker is also on.
    ==========================================================================

    What should you use?
Standard Mode until you lose traction, then quickly press the VSC OFF button to increase the power of your traction control (more engine RPM, stronger braking on the spinning tires).

In L4 (Low Range) and your tires spin, press the A-TRAC button (Off Road TRD only) to nearly lock-up any spin. I always have A-TRAC on in L4... unless you need to spin the mud out of the tires.

Emergency stuck if A-TRAC doesn't work in any situation, press the RR Lock button (works with or without A-TRAC working on the front tires). The rear locker connects both rear tires from inside the differential (0 spin). Turn off RR Locker, once you are unstuck.

    1) H2 TRAC
    2) H2 AUTO LSD (VSC OFF to 30 mph)
    3) H2 VSC OFF
    4) H4 TRAC
    5) H4 TRAC OFF
    6) H4 VSC OFF
    7) L4 VSC OFF
    8) L4 & A-TRAC
    9) L4 & Rear Locker
    10) L4 & Rear Locker & A-TRAC

The rear locker should be on before you ever have a chance of getting stuck. I hit the switch any time I'm climbing a hill or going through mud

Does anyone have a way to install a switch to interrupt all of these functions and allow the locker to be used in 2WD ? Life would be a lot better if I could disable all nannies and run my locker when I want to.

Not on a 3rd gen. They run the locker through several modules and no way to bypass it yet

Thanks for the response. The crazy computer has done me dirty and left me stuck on stuff that I would not have normally had problems with more than once. I would love three switches. One to temporarily disable the anti lock brakes, one to temporarily disable traction control. The final switch to lock the diff. Hopefully someone comes out with something.

There is already a button for traction control. You could wire in a switch to interupt the ABS fuse. Install ARB locker

That button has issues. I don't trust it. I want to hard disable it. I don't want to install an ARB. I don't go to Moab I just want it to work so I can get up the driveway.

IF you use the locker, then the other traction controls may be deactivated... it is with my truck, except if the A-TRAC button is depressed. The rear locker cuts out ABS and that is used by TRAC. In low range, you only have A-TRAC and/ or the rear locker. There is no VSC or TRAC.

True then the engine makes less power ... and if you rev the thing it will drop the RPM . I have real tires . The truck will stop on its own with the pedal to the mat.
