I installed a new headunit in my 2008 Taco. I really like the results, new speakers are next. The one wire that didn't make sense was the parking brake light. I needed to wire that to the headunit in order to play videos on the stereo...gonna watch Forest Gump on my next trip. :) Hope this helps someone thinking of an upgrade.

The pale green wire is from the headunit. The Green/Yellow is what I spliced into. This fuse box is behind the "change holder" on the driver's side.

Here is the headunit. I like the results.

All you had to do was ground the parking brake wire

Ok. I just went with what the installation instructions said: "Connect to the vehicle’s parking brake detection switch harness."

My trouble initially was figuring out where that was.

So the way you have this set up you won't be able to watch anything while driving, if that's what you were shooting for. You need to wire it through a ground switch or relay. Obviously watching while driving isn't legal, though...

With the kenwood unit you don't even need a relay or switch. Just ground the wire from the head unit.

Like the guy above said, the way you have it right now it will only play if the parking brake is on. If you just ground the wire it tricks the head unit to think that the brake is set so you can use it whenever

Ha! No, I don't need anything else distracting me on the road. I prefer it to work this way. Thanks.
