So I found this site, and they lift at the end of the axle, much in the same way the military version of the hummer does.

    Link: killer axles

The ground clearance is amazing. Just curious as to what other think of such a thing.

They're portal boxes, there isn't really a lot to say about them. Volvo and Unimog make them, as well as others probably. Depending on which ones you look at, they can't handle much more than 50 mph from what I've read and heard. They're pretty specialized, and costly!

Good to know. I had never seen them before I stumbled upon the site.

They are nice but expect to pay a stupid amount of money for them. There's a guy here in town with an F350 sitting on 44's or 46's and AxleTech portals. I see the truck almost daily and have seen him on the highway a few times. Trucks been around for a longtime so I know they are quality parts but I've never had a chance to talk to him the get the whole story.

I just know my 3in lifted 03 Taco has a nice view on the rear bumper everytime I see him.

They include a disk brake swap for front and rear. Cost is about $9000 for a set. This is like a spindle lift for 4x2 but works for 4x4. If you call the company and become the first to get them we all will be getting lower prices so please get them! It is a lift, a regear for 35" tires, and a free clearance for 35" tires all in one package so keep that in mind. These also allow for a central tire inflation system so you can air up and own on the fly. Comes with the air attachment from the factory.

It's the exact same technology that's on the HMMWV.

Great for ground clearance, but they're expensive, dislike highway speeds, and maintenance intensive - just like the HMMWV's portal axles.

For a dedicated offroad or extreme expedition rig, if you have the dough go for it. Anything else, not worth it.

Puts a lot of axle wrap so you would need to 4 link it, that front would need a SAS. Like @Mxpatriot stated they hate highway speed and is higher maintence. By the time you do all that you could have more reliable 1 tons under there. Also expensive as fuck.
