Seriously, even with 4x4 aren't sand bags in the truck bed a good idea if snow is on the forecast?

Put on some long johns and thicker socks. 4wd gets me out of most snow. Fallen trees just add traction.

does new brunswick really get all that cold? I know you guys get hit hard with snow but I thought it stays relatively warm there.

The downside to sandbags they can become projectiles. They slide around easier when they freeze and become solid. Sometimes they can help with traction taking off though.

    • Wash and Wax
    • Add heavy insulated jacket (inside truck at all times) + insulated mechanix gloves + windshield brush + replenish survival gear
    • Add heavy wool blanket
    • Install Nokian studded tires
    • Put three sand bags in bed (180lbs over axle)

Throws ice cubes on the ground outside. Yep as close as I'm getting to a winter in Texas.

    • Buy MOAR Whiskey (Maker's Mark, Bulleit, etc).
    • Bust out the flannel robe made by mom. :D
    • Do an oil change right before winter - use old oil to coat under carriage.
    • Switch wiper fluid to de icer-version.
    • Add: snow brush, self battery jump starter, kelty zero down sleeping bag.

When I forget the regular winter opening and closing of the window get annoying. (I do reinstall when parked for long periods)

My winterizing process, which I performed twenty years ago, was to get the f'k out of the snow & rust belt and move south to Georgia.

I'm close to the Bay of Fundy where the temps are cooler in the summer and slightly warmer in the winter. There's usually a couple weeks where it's -20C or colder, the rest of winter could be between 5C and -15C. Anything above 0C is truck washing weather. The snow really varies too. Last year wasn't bad, the year before was crazy. There was one week where it snowed like 7 feet in one week.

I buy a 6 month carwash pass and get the undercarriage sprayed a few times per week.
