    Hello all,

I just sold my first gen tacoma to pick up a 2002 4runner from my best friend. Today is the first day I have had it and when I got home from getting my license plates the truck wouldnt turn off. I had to pull my battery to get it to shut off.

    I have replaced the

    -Starter relay
    -Ignition switch

The truck runs fine and drives great but will not shut off, no check engine codes. All the wiring behind dash looks to be in good shape. All fuses checked out.

Im lost on what could have happened. Truck has 145k and is in excellent condition. Not sure what would cause such a problem.

    Any advice??

Pull the ignition relay to see if that shuts it down. If it does, plug the relay back in, and see if it clicks when you do. If no click, replace relay. Not terribly common, but relays can stick on once the contacts burn a bit.

I tested the ignition relay. I ended up taking the throttle body off and attempting to replace the TPS sensor, but you have to purchase an entire throttle body to get a new sensor unless you source one from china in a bulk order or find one used. After I put the truck back together, everything worked as it should. I think its a stretch but the TPS sensor may be going bad and causing this. Its been two days with no problems since. Still uncertain of what the exact cause of this is

I had that problem in a 97 Land Cruiser. I replaced the starter and it stopped doing that thing. I thought it was the ignition key tumbler, or the wiring, or all sorts of things. I chose to replace the starter and it never did it again. It didn't make a whole lot of sense to me at the end.

Hopefully you get it sorted out.
