Question, anyone have success with finding a ground for a CB or ham radio antenna from the bed of the Tacoma without removing any paint underneath? I am installing a FT-8800r next week. I had no issue finding an entry point for the antenna but still thinking about how to get to the battery from the cab. I prefer not going through the large rubber seal with the bundle of wires also going through it by the driver side pedals. Ideas?

    Thanks,

I found a hole with a plug that serves no purpose just above the large entry point on the drivers side while looking for one for my light bar switch wiring. It's not visible from the inside. I plan on drilling a hole in the plug just big enough to run the wires and reuse it. It was only 1/2" or so big and you would have to pull back the "carpeting" on the firewall to fish it through. I noticed the wire harness plug that I have, which wasn't big, didn't fit so you are probably forced to only run wires in the one I am mentioning. Sorry no pic but I know it's there!

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
There is also a sealed rubber boot on the passenger side of the firewall. hard to see from the inside but easy to see from the engine compartment. There are two smaller knobs sticking out of it that are sealed. I cut the ends off of both and used one to run the wires for a CB and on for the Coax cable. The Coax cable is a tight fit but it dose fit. I will try and get pictures later this afternoon. Also if you need to there is a nice pass through behind the dash and down by the floor to run any wires from the drivers sided to the passenger side.

That little black plug that has a notch cut out of that insulation around it is what I was referring too earlier. It goes nowhere but inside.

Were you able to see it? Im trying to find a spot to run my light wire and the spot where i see is the same where the large bundle of wires and grommet is. Im tempting to use a pointy needle and stick it through.

No need to go through the bundle of wires. I ran the pos/neg wire through the grommet after I drilled a hole through it. I guided the wires in with a hanger that I curved down as soon as it went through. The carpeting on the interior side is rather thick and hard to maneuver around but you'll be able to get through.

Do you know where the grommet is located at on the engine side? Did you cut a hole in the carpet side?

    Thanks for your help

I'm thinking of putting some lights on the bed of the truck, has anyone routed the wires from the bed to the inside of the cab? It looks like everything is sealed, but I must be missing something.......:blahblah:

Where did this pop out in the cab? I'd like to use the same spot for my cb. Did you have to remove the glove box? Thanks

Edit: I figured it it by just sticking a coat hanger through it. Also, grease up that wire before you try pulling it through. Will save you hours.
