Rear Drum Vs Disc

    Is that one of the whack-job disk/drum rear rotors? I've seen em on ford and others. Disks connect to the brake pedal, the drums connect only to the parking brake pedal/lever? That's a double whack-job and the rotors are more expensive, and you occasionally get to replace both pads AND shoes...

    Ford Explorer is one that comes to mind. Usually when the rotor has that really deep top-hat look there are shoes inside.

    From the factory the truck comes with a 20% rear weight bias, but what about people who do Expo build with campers and tons of equipment and there beds as well as with the trailer?

    This in the front.... with the faux disc in the rear. Probably get at least a 1/4" of spacer built in for those wider tires and stanced look "bro lean", to clear UCA's. ;)

    I believe you are correct. The depth of the "hat" serves as an inner surface for the parking brake to sit.

    And yes they're whack. They also had a tendency to seize to the hub, so you would need a large mallet to knock them off.

    Color matched door handles, Weathertech floor liners, bed mat, Durafit seat covers, tailgate clamp, 2016 TRD Sport 17" wheels with Yokohama Geolander AT tires , Toyota exhaust tip, Toyota/Yakima bike rail mount, Toyota wheel locks, Toyota hitch cover, Redline hood struts, unifilter on air pump.
    We haven't had a problem with that at GM, but some other car lines may have that issue. I know my wife's new Camry has the rotor hat design. I actually prefer the caliper actuator design like Honda and many other car makers use. I still would rather have 4 wheel disc brakes on my Tacoma, but it's obviously not a deal breaker.

    I just checked my parts catalog and sure enough, the Colorado uses the rotor/hat design.

    I think that there a lot of heavy rigs out there, from LT to Expo, which have a lot of added mass since the factory put their finishing touches on. Changing the dynamics of their vehicles. While over looking the brakes. Not everyone, but a lot. Easy enough to scroll through the build forum and get an idea. ;)
