No way, there is absolutely no reason to ditch a 2015 for a 2017. It also sounds like a pretty crappy financial decision as it is, but I'll just leave it at that. You're figuring it out and surviving with it, don't make it worse. At the very least wait until the end of the generation or until a "feature" is going to be included that you absolutely don't want on a new truck, then buy the newest you can and keep it as long as possible. Still though, I'd be more than happy with a 2015 that was problem free.

Also, I got a good laugh out of you making a point that you've kept up with all maintenance/service for your 10k miles of ownership.

Anyways, keep the 2015, the 3rd gen isn't anything you absolutely need.

Keep the 15 and pay it off. It will help your credit even more. You say you owe 30k. I doubt you'll get 30k on a trade in. Private party sale maybe, but even then you break even. Unless you have serious cash to put down, you're looking at higher payments with a 17.

    Too few to list.
Keep it. If i had to do it all over again now, i'd buy a used 2nd gen over a new 3rd gen. I picked up my 15 when the 16's came out. I did test drive a few 16's before getting the 15. I wanted to buy the good ones before they were gone.

Keep the 2015 and appreciate having some torque. The fuel economy is worse in this new 3.5 Tacoma than it was in my 4.0. Living at elevation with a lack of flatland really puts a strain on an already strained motor and the MPGs show it. It's a sexy beast, no doubt, but it's also proven itself a gutless bitch at elevation and towing above 55 mph is a joke; the combo of the two makes me want to drive it off a cliff.

I just traded in my 15 access cab for a 17 limited and I'm hapy in every which way. 17 is way more "with the times" than the so/so second gens IMO.

Do you mean they are better in every way because it has a touch screen and fancy display between the gauges? Or because it has a smaller engine and weird trans? Maybe because it sits on the same frame with a mythological special coating to prevent rust but yet it still rust? Which is it that makes it better in every way?

OP, its none of my business but why did you need to rebuild your credit in the first place ? things like this will bring you back to square one. keep the 15 (not because the 2nd gen is better :D ) it make more financially sense. just my 2 cents

    Keep 2015

There is no equity you still owe the bank.
    The truck owns you.
If you trade a perfectly good truck for a 17 the dealer will own you too.
Take any extra money & pay off your truck faster.
    That will build your credit
    Good luck

I'm sure there's a handful of guys on here, that would trade your '15 for their '16, all day long.

    I say keep it!
