Only the Ko2 and Goodyear Duratrac have winter snowflake ratings, as far as "true" AT tires. LTX's perform better.

I have studded winters on separate rims :curls: My duratracs were really good in the snow, I only put my winters on for Nov-Feb due to the studs.

I ran General Grabber AT2s in South Bend, IN for 2 years and they were great.

I would really like dedicated snow tires, but I don't want to have to store them and swap them on my truck like I do for the wife's car. I have been hearing good things about the duratracs but from what I seen they don't last long. I guess that's kind of the compromise though.

I have a feeling winter is going to hit soon. I'm going to give these dunlops a shot. If they do alright I'll keep them for this winter. But I have a feeling they are going to let me down.

I had the firestone destination AT prior to getting the Michelin at2 and there is no comparison the Michelin at2 destroys the destinations in every category except the price [IMG]

I would get the Michelins even for the price, before I had the Michelins I had the firestone destination at which I bought because they were a cheaper tire than the Michelin and what a mistake I was pretty unhappy with the firestones because they were a average performing tire compared to the Michelins which are a above average ++++ tire, if you are using the truck as a daily driver Michelin at2 is the best AT tire to get IMO. if the truck is used for the Baja 500 than the other brands would do I guess. also these tires are good for year round use no need for dedicated snow tires they will get u thru any blizzard that nature throws at you.

I received a card in the mail from Toyota... "Tire Savings Event" where you can buy 3 tires and get the fourth for only a dollar. So, I ended up ordering the Michelin LTX AT/2 P265/70/16.

I ran BFG TA/KO's previously on a Jeep Cherokee, then ran General Grabber AT2's on a Nissan Xterra. Both were very similar and were awesome the first 2 years. After that, they were both horrible in packed snow or ice. Deep snow they were still really nice. Now I'm running Duratrac's on my Tacoma and I'm hoping to see an improvement. This will be my first winter with them though. For reference, I'm in northern Minnesota.

I really liked my General Grabber AT2s. But they didn't wear very evenly despite my best efforts. Great in the snow though. How northern MN? I'm in Grand Rapids.

I have been kind of leaning towards the gneral grabbers. I really like them quiet a bit.

Word. I'll be passing through Duluth tomorrow on my way to Brimson. Gotta get the hunting shack ready for deer season.

One other point I'll add - the Duratracs are noticably louder than both the BFG's and Grabbers. It personally doesn't bother me though.

I've ran the LTX AT/2 for three winters now and they are decent on snow and ice. I'm happy with them. They are definitely pricey, but I think they are worth it.

Well, I got a flat tire that's not repairable the other night. Luckily it was within a few blocks of the house. When I pulled in the driveway I heard a hissing noise from my left rear, somehow a tire weight punctured my tire. Weird!

Anyhow, I'm going to be looking into some local deals throughout the week and see what is available in my area for a decent price. I would really love some different wheels too, but the budget doesn't allow for that right now. A couple local guys have recommended the General AT2. My dad has also had them for a few years and likes them. But I'm still leaning towards Michelin, BFG or hankook. We'll see what happens!

I had a set of Michelin LTX AT2 and was not impressed with winter performance. The tread worked in deep snow the first couple years, but the compound was too hard for packed snow & ice. When the tread wore down they were mediocre in all cold conditions. In my opinion the compound was designed for longevity, not cold performance.

I'm headed into my 2nd winter with Grabber AT2's. They worked well in all winter conditions when new last year.

    And I'm in MN too.

I've always seen that Michelin lasts forever, usually the rubber is cracking before the tread is worn. I'm leaning more and more towards a general or bfg right now. More towards the general since I the time came a little sooner than expected.

Ok guys, I have decided between two. I'm either looking at some 3rd gen off road wheels (16" take offs) with Goodyear AllTerrain Adventures OR Goodyear Duratracs on my stock trd sprot 17's. I like the look of the 3rd gen wheels on the 2nd gens, but I also like the aggressive look of the duratracs. I have always been curious of the duratracs from all the amazing reviews and from some local buddies, even though I am not a Goodyear fan (mostly because of what comes on previous vehicles as oem tire). So we shall see.....this weekend will be when the decision will be made.
