I'm new to this so here goes. I periodically look at a few different forums, mostly for information. I've discovered that if I look long enough, the answers to my questions are there. I'm not new to Toyota 4x4 pickups. In fact, I've driven one everyday since June 1983. I was a farmhand fresh out of high school. My boss drove a 1982 2wd diesel Toyota pickup. He started that truck at 6 am and did not kill the engine until 10 PM or later, everyday. He drove it hard and fast and got about 40 mpg and it NEVER broke. I was sold. I bought a used 1980 "hilux" 4x4 longbed that summer. Between my kids, my wife and myself, we've owned over 20 Toyotas. Most have been pickups but we've had 4runners, a Sequoia, a Corolla and a Rav4 as well. In my driveway today the three pickups (06 Tacoma 4x4 TRD Sport w/ 270K, 2005 Tundra double cab 4x4 with 212K and my 1996 T100 4x4 extra cab with 383K) total just about 865,000 miles. If I threw in my son's 09 Tundra, we'd be over a million miles. My wife drives a '14 4runner Trail edition but its life with us has barely started at 25K miles. We don't modify much, if any. I figure the Toyota engineers spent time, effort and money making it the way it supposed to be. However, I have seen some really neat upgrades and more power to the folks that like to tinker with their vehicles. I got on here this morning because I'm hearing mixed reviews on the new Tacoma with the 3.5 and 6 speed automatic. I haven't driven one yet but I do know what the 4.0 feels like in our TRD Sport. My youngest son will be driving soon and he'll get my '05 tundra. I've got my eye on a "newer" Tacoma TRD off road or maybe a Baja version. I'll keep watching these posts and learning from you folks that have spent countless hours doing your homework. Thank you in advance. Adios.

Welcome to TW. Congrats with all the trouble free pickups and I hope you'll have many more miles like those ahead of you.
