    This thread is remarkably similar to the current 3rd generation threads. :popcorn:

    So let me get this straight, you own a SAAB and LANDROVER and you are worried about owning a wellknown bulletproof 2nd gen Tacoma because a couple of nancys on here complained about thin paint, squakey beds and a non issue ticking engine!?!?

    Shit man, going from those two problems laden names you currently own to a Toyota should be a no brainer if I have ever seen one.

    I have a 2007 DCSB pre runner 4.0 auto. Looks as good as the day it left the dealer. To put your mind at ease, check out some of the "residual value" articles you can find laying around. A 5 year old chevy is worth less than 50% of what was paid for it. A tacoma is right at 80% retained value. That says a lot. My '07 has 130K miles, no runs, runs as good as new, still gets just over 20mpg, tows a bass boat like nobody's business, and is not having any mechanical problems. I have replaced the right front wheel bearing, and then the usual service with regular oil changes, plugs and filters.

    The ones that have issues are 100x as likely to post here as those that do not. You can't read this forum and try to extrapolate failure rates...

    Please don't be scared... I have a 2014 taco with 33K and it has been fine except for the paint. The paint scratches very easy, in fact
    I can't go through any car washes because it scratches the hell out of it. I have to have it DETAILED or you can clay bar it your self.
    When removing snow in the winter I have to be very careful.

    For those who pondered like me about what the guy chose to do I can tell you that I don't really know, but his profile with a last log in and post of Feb this year says he has:

    2009 DC LB Trd Sport180,000

    Front wheel bearings is about the only thing. Looked at a 2016, like mine better.

    We converted the guy long ago... he is one of us now

    Since the OP of this 2007 thread now has a 09 TRD Sport and a 2011 4Runner I'd say he's over having second thoughts... :thumbsup:

    I have put just shy of 450,000 km on my 2nd Gen. It has given me fewer problems than any vehicle I have owned previously.

    2011 DCSB, TRD OR Automatic. 3" lift. 265/75/16 Duratracs. 103,000+ miles. Off roaded a fair bit;

    ZERO problems. No vibrations. No rust. Everything works. Not one single complaint. 19 to 21 mpg depending on how I drive.

    My 5th Toyota, 4th Tacoma. Nothing but win. YMMV
