I measure mine at every fill up but the dash has been within .2 every time.

I did several hand calcs and found for my purposes, the gauge was reasonably close.

Measuring by tank fill and mileage, I have found the mileage computer very accurate. The next test is to see if the speedometer/odometer is accurate. Normally these are slightly inaccurate; favoring a slightly faster waranty expiration. Has anyone tested the odometer on the TRD OR?

43 fill up is the Tacoma vs the 126 fill up 2014 4runner limited.

I use Fuelio. I average about 23mpg between fill ups. It's kinda steadied out, actually. I do have the transmission TSB applied. I have seen up to 25 or so.

My gauge is very accurate. If I top off the tank after the gas nozzle stops, I may be off by 1/10-2/10 MPG. If I stop pumping gas after the nozzle shuts off, the gauge is right on the mark.

Recognizing that this thread is no longer about the original post, but it seems that 19-21 is common, and 23 is achievable as an average but requires attention. Tires and other modifications can make a significant difference. Driving habits affect it a lot (my wife thinks she is a NASCAR driver even in a truck). Even the amount of extra weight you carry (upgraded bumpers, skid plates, recovery gear, etc.) can hurt especially if you are stop and go a lot.

Fuelly. I drive easy and have NEVER seen 20MPG on a tank. I've meticulously calculated every single fillup since new. 4x4 manual on factory wheels/ tires. You can see my results clicking on the link below.

Because the trip distance is only 16.9 miles... So that could be mostly down hill...

I see you have an MT, which is supposed to get 2mpg overall lower than the AT. You also didn't say what model you have. The Sport and OR models stock will get lower mileage than an SR5 due to tires, larger heavier wheels, etc. It is perfectly normal for some models equipped differently to get significantly lower mileage.

My last entry brings me to a request. When posting mileage it would be helpful to note what model you have, MT or AT, and what tires you are running. Running an DCSB MT with 18 inch wheels, AT or off road tires, no air dam, etc. you should expect 3-4 mpg less than a stock SR5 AT Access cab with P rated tires. passenger tires.

I have checked my truck with manual calculations and against the Entune, apps, eco and my tank averages are closer than the margin of error. I don't do much long distance freeway so it doesnt skew what my tank averages from tank to tank. I reset the entune on every tank fill-up. you get a graph readout on all your tank averages. Basically I get between 17.5 to 18.5 mpg city driving. Short distance freeway driving and city street driving about equal parts of each. I had the transmission reflash last week and with my limited experience my mileage hasn't dropped any. Stock, v6, auto, trd offroad access cab.
my mileage and driveability didn't really settle down until I got close to 5000 miles. Where either the truck conformed to my driving style or I conformed to it or maybe a little of both. For me the reflash was better to have done than not and I don't regret it yet. I would do it again if I had a do over.

Sorry. It says it below my profile pic. TRDOR Double cab.

If you look on Fuelly, my experience matches most. See below for the data from ALL 2016 tacomas, including 4cyl, 2WD, etc. I'm well within the range, and as you pointed out the manual gets slightly lower MPG.

I removed a handful of gas receipts from my Tacoma today and all the gas mileage calculations were within 1/10 mile of the dash read out.

From this point forward I'll calculate gas mileage maybe two or three times per year. Due to the accuracy of the dash read out, I no longer feel the need to calculate it every time.
