In the market for a RTT and found the thread through a Google search. Sorry to be that guy but any chance for someone else to sneak in? If not, I completely understand!

Ima be honest here, I'm seeing a trend here. RTT companies are popping up left and right much like LED companies did right when LED bars got popular. In the end, it all boiled down to the same thing, (with the exception of Rigid) all of those lights were almost the exact same, but your after sale support is what you were paying for from the more reputable companies.

So I'm just sayin' you can save a couple a bucks and buy from a new start up selling these, with 1 or 2 members vouching, and hope its all legit and nothing goes wrong, or buy from one of these trusted companies, pay extra but know you get the support and quality product to go along with it in case anything happens.

They have a two year warranty just like most of the "trusted companies". Just because there not popular on this forum does not mean they are not good quality. There is life outside tacomaworld.com

Yea, except it's not really "a couple bucks". Sometimes these less known companies are 1/2 the price to the comparable of a "trusted company" and carry just as good of a warranty. Chances are, minus the Australian brands, they're all made in China, probably in the same factory. So that "trusted brand" is double or triple charging you for what, less hold time on a phone call, parts shipped out a few days faster, or just the logo of a more popular brand? The Geo RTT GB had quite a few similar issues, and last I checked that guy was responding to everyone. If this was some crucial engine or suspension part that could cause you to get stranded, then I could understand spending a little extra, but it's a tent. Just fabric and some posts, taco'd up in a folding platform, and marked up 8-10 times the price of a normal tent for that folding platform. I've slept in quite a few different tents, some bigger name companies, and some not so popular ones, and there wasn't much difference. Last week long bike trip I went on I took a sub $100 tent and it worked fine, and kept me dry. If the market was big enough Walmart could produce these and sell them for under $500, and they'd last just as long as most other brands.

I'd compare the RTT movement more to the Yeti cooler trend. The original still gets praised by purist, while brands like RTIC are half the price, and work exactly the same. Yeti up charges every single thing to keep their elite image, has nothing to do with the extra support.

Any chances this will happen again? I was looking at the CVT group buy for the summit series but their extreme series tents look up to par and save a few hundred bucks. Only downside is the extreme series doesnt come with the annex???? If you add the price of the annex the prices get a lot closer. Also, if anyone has feedback please post it up. The CVT group buy starts end Mar/beg Apr so I was looking to pull the trigger in the next few weeks and would like to get the research done.

Also, is this vendor active on the site? If so, who is the best rep to contact via pm for some of these questions.
