My timing cover seal on my 1GR has gone again, now at 160,000km. First was at 70,000km and covered by the TSB. I was looking into doing the job myself but my back is giving me heck lately so I may just pass it on to my local guy.

My question is: what else should I be replacing/doing at the same time for convenience sakes?

    I have a rough list, but I don't know what's entirely necessary...
    - Valve covers and upper intake gasket
    - Front main seal
    - Thermostat
    - Water pump
    - Drive Belt/Pulleys/Tensioners
    - Valve clearance check?

    Cheers!

If you're having it pulled, then all of the internal associated O-rings.

That pretty much covers it. You could have them throw some spark plugs in there if you haven't already done so yourself. Your timing components should still be in good shape as long as the motor has been properly maintained.

Just an FYI, not sure if applicable in this case but dealer chased a supposed timing cover leak on my 05 4cyl and after 4 attempts they ended up replacing the head gasket.......and left the harmonic balancer bolt loose. Not sure where your leak is but mine was where block/head/timing cover all met up. I know you has the 6 cyl but just info maybe you can use. Good luck.

This can also happen, but it's rare on the 1-GR. It's almost always the timing cover, but he's right... make sure they KNOW where the leak is coming from before they attempt a repair.

I know it's right by the power steering pump (the typical spot), if that helps. I did my plugs not too long ago, so they're fine. All the other stuff is warranted to add on to the repair? This is gonna get pricey with OEM parts.

I would up the coin for as much oem as you can, especially any gaskets, especially a wp gasket. Fuck paper felpro garbage. Get the nice rubberized metal or tar paperish oem gaskets is my recommendation.

Thanks for the input fellas. Definitely going with OEM gaskets. Belts and pulleys I will just do myself this winter I think because they aren't so tricky.

Front main seal and thermostat: can anyone shed some light on these? All I know is replace em if they fail haha.
