So it's been a few years since I did my retrofit and had nothing but bad luck with the dual halos I purchased from them. Failure after failure, replacement after replacement. I ended up giving up and left them alone and disconnected. I haven't looked at any led products in quite a while. But looking to start my new replacement retro, and decided to look some stuff up in hopes that their products got better by now. But reading the few reviews on the halos, as well as demon eyes, I'm pretty anxious to attempt using any led products at all and may just skip them entirely.

What are some of your thoughts/experiences with their led products? Or is there another brand you guys have used with better luck? I see them all the time and have even inquired from a retrofitter here in the past regarding halo quality and they didn't seem to have any issues.. But the reviews on trs are quite dismal...

Trs products LOOK to be amazing, especially the easy bolt on demon eyes, compared to what they offered in the past. But I certainly don't want to have any issues like I did before.
(and yes trs took care of me in the past, but that's beside the point. It's all the hassle I don't want a repeat of)

LED Concepts have lifetime warranties on their halos, albeit they are very pricey. Same with Oracle. LED Concepts does this fancy thing where the resistors for the halos are external rather than on the halo itself, so if it does fail, all you would need to do is replace the external resistors according to them.

Personally I am looking at Diode Dynamics halos and other LEDs. By all accounts their customer service is good, and I can't find anything on any failure of their products other than DOAs. I'm interested in them because of the unique drivers and the lower price as compared to LED Concepts and Oracle (not to mention Oracle doesn't allow you to just choose a ring size...). The drivers dim the halos when one of the wires receives 12v, which I think would be good at night. Just wire it into the parking lights and have dimmer halos at night to not have too much glare.

Hm. Well trs uses similar resistors/drivers externally. Unless they changed it. I've had multiple issues before. Like half the ring going out. The driver failing. New replacements not matching in color(sent an updated version that was slightly off in hue not matching the older one). Wire connections on the board coming loose... I think I'm gonna scour hid planet and see what's up. Haven't looked in there yet. May try another brand. Idk. I just want a clean retro and not have to keep splitting them to fix things, let alone having to wait for the replacements to arrive.

I know there's tricks to helping them last longer. Like jb welding connection on board so it doesn't come loose. Wiring them so they turn off while hids are on.. But is this what it is or is it just my luck? Because like I said I've heard of people that had zero issues..

LED technology has come a long way in the last few years. Shortcomings from years ago may already be addressed today. TRS is active on the forum, include them in the conversation. @TRSAndrew

That was my thought. I think I'm gonna pull the trigger.. They just came out with the mini turbine shrouds and I have GOT to have them. Of course with some rgb halos. Before I had their single color. And I do think they were going through some phases with different versions, because like I said I had received different replacement ones, or what seemed to be updated versions. But, seems like they're constantly changing their design. Idk.. I have an idea for some cheap single color demon eye led's. That way if they fail, I'll be content just disconnecting those.. Their newer ones don't bolt up to my 6.0's I think. Fewer components = less to worry about. As long as the rgb halos last, I'll be happy.

I'm iffy about any lifetime warranties at all to be honest. The only products we sell with lifetime warranties are clear lenses (glass pieces; how can they possibly fail?) and JW Speaker LED products, who honors their warranty directly when needed. Otherwise, anything LED, HID, Laser, etc. will have a service life. It may be 50,000 hours, but it absolutely has a service life.

If we go into selling a product knowing we will have to replace it at some point, how much would we have to increase the price to cover that known replacement as well as the original part's cost?

With that said, pretty much everything we have now is completely different than what we had a few years ago. Parts have gotten more reliable, more diverse, and longer-lasting. Naturally, issues have been found with older designs and changed with newer models. As we progress on to new products, lessons learned from previous experiences help refine designs.

The 7.0 projectors were debuted right at a year ago, and we don't foresee any issues with them that need changing, aside from maybe a full re-design of the way the bulb is held in the back of the projector. It's a solid design used for really every Mini H1 generation now, but that's not to say it isn't without its flaws.

The Mini D2S 4.0 projectors that released last week in fact have been in the design phase since the 3.0s were released, because of obvious design flaws like the solenoid plug exiting from the front. The 4.0 generation, aside from flipping the solenoid connector around, also allowed for brand new optics, a curved cutoff shield, and what basically is so good that the FX-R sales will slowly subside and eventually be discontinued I'm sure.
