Should mention that I definitely felt the sway and got blown around when first towing. Definitely recommend the Equalizer Weight Distribution Hitch. I have the E2 5K setup and the difference is night and day.

So glad to see the TT towed with the Tacoma. We bought a 2016 Tacoma 6 cylinder SR5 with a tow package this past year and then suddenly found ourselves looking at TT. Long and short, being the total tow novices we are, we have a Dutchmen Aerolite 213 that has a dry weight just under 5000. We were assured that with the tow package, WDH and sway bar that the truck could handle it. I am currently out of town and we have yet to take it on a trip but it did fine on the 60 mile trip home from the dealership and we live in TN ( not exactly flatlanders!). I will post photos when we get her ready for our first trip this month to a state park in VA. I must admit we have had many discussions and heated ones about whether we are making this truck work too hard. This is my third Tacoma and respect the heck out of them but just hope we aren't expecting too much. I feel better after seeing some of the tractors being pulled by these work horses!!

This is what I tow. Ain't even that heavy. Nowhere near what Toyota claims the Tacoma can tow. Truck tows it fine going down hill or flat. Hates going up hill.

Pardon me for saying so, but 6500 lbs my military ass.

As of 4 o'clock today, this is what we tow! Yes this is my Hubs 4R. He already had a trailer brake, my Taco does not. Since I have to drive 2k miles home with it, we thought it better to use the 4R.

Congrats on the trailer. Can't wait to see more pictures of it. Bet it will be nice to be dry and up off the ground.

Finally got some photos of our truck and what we will tow but not together. We had to move the trailer due to building adjacent to our property but forgot to photo while hitched!! Anyway, this will be our new Tacoma home. First venture not until October 17 and can't wait!! image.jpgimage.jpg

Just got to our campsite on our first trip after the upgrades. I'm towing in 4th which may make a difference....truth in advertising

I easily cruised at between 65 and 70 and even got to 75 when not paying attention. I had plenty of power to accelerate and pass. I even got nearly 12mpg on average over 250 miles

When not towing I cruise at 79mph at about 200 less rpm than previous

Time will tell but I'm happy

My old man used to haul this rig all over New England back when we raced motocross. Steel frame 6x10 trailer with bikes, 55 gallon water barrel, etc.. Not sure the weight of the camper though my estimate is around 1,500-2,000 lbs. The truck was a 2003 3.4 v6, 5 sp manual. Deff was a challenge for the motor but it never skipped a beat. Didn't go beyond 4th gear to keep the rpms up. Hauled up and down some pretty steep grades too but she kept truckin!

DSCN1527.jpg DSCN1527.jpg Well, just back from our first outing in the TT with the Taco Tough behaving well. We really tested it though as we went up to Virginia to the Grayson Highlands area and there were 28 miles of curving, narrow roads. I have no fingernails left!! Chuck did a great job driving as it was his first time towing. We used the ECT, S mode mostly in 3rd going up the inclines but it did well in 5th on the I-81 coming home with not so great mileage due to the steep grade going up. Most of the big truck guys at the campground were amazed we were able to do it and made several snide remarks regarding the inability of their sons Tacos not being capable of towing. Their motto seems to be "go big or go home". Never been my style!! I am a tent camper and new to this TT scene so time will tell. Just hope we aren't expecting too much out of this setup as we both love it. Beautiful fall colors and great camping facility if you are in the area. We had a sway bar, WDH and did not load any water in prior to leaving other than bottled water. Dry weight on the trailer 4978 lbs.

Looks great. We're about to take our 2012 Taco to the Texas Hill Country to see the fall colors. We're looking forward to the trip. I used to get about 9.5mpg when towing. Now that I've modified my intake and exhaust (as well as driving in 4th) I'm getting about 12.25mpg. I'm curious how I'll do when driving through the Hill Country. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. you've got a nice looking rig
