Mainstream they did; pretty much everything got quads in '58. But there were quite a few models out in 1957 that were ahead of the curve, mostly the upper end brands/models. Turnpike Cruisers being one, obviously. Most of Chrysler's lineup did, too. I think only the base Saratogas and the Royals had singe headlight setups. Lincolns had stacked quads rather than SxS. I think that the GM boys were a little slow; the Cadillac El Dorado Brougham was the only thing with the option of quads from them, if I remember right.

...^^^... Thanks for that explanation and info. I had no idea that many cars had quads in 1958.

Who would have thought I could have learned so much about classic cars, aircraft and etc. on a Tacoma Forum?? :confused:o_O ..........

How cool is this .... Thanks ....

All kinds of unrelated stuff flying around this place.

FYI, '57 was 27 years before I was born, lol. No idea where I picked it up. :notsure:

In '56 Federal and state laws prohibited quad headlights. In late '56 (for the '57 model year) the law was changed by the feds and some, but not all, states to permit them. By '58 they were legal in all states. In '57 many cars were available with the option of having either dual or quad headlamps depending on what state they were to be sold in.

Not posting this so much for the chick, but it's a great pic nonetheless.

Hey, if she comes with that car I wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating crackers.

Eh, who am I kidding. I'm male. Even if she didn't come with the car.

...^^^... An older buddy built one of these into a street rod with a Chrysler engine before I could drive ... a real fun car.

He would load up several of us in his Jeepster and burn rubber at the stop lights. ... All this happened before I could drive.

Today .... I have a friend who bought a beautiful stock Jeepster from CA for $7,500 about 5 years ago.
