The switch your using only has a 3 amp rating. You will have to power your light bar
through a relay.Mictuning online and cruiserheads will have a diagram for your switch.

Do an internet search and you will find the diagram. Definitely need a relay. Not sure why mfg does not include a wiring diagram with switch. I mentioned it in my review.

OP states that he has the light bar with harness, so personally I would think that he already has the relay, especially since the three wires below the plug are black, white, and blue.

OP if that is the case, then clip the plug off on the side with the blue wire in it. Black is obviously ground and the blue wire connects to the red wire nearest to the green wire. The white wire will go to the green wire, and then the final wire is connected to a dash light circuit. Most people use the wire that powers the cargo light switch illumination (green and white?) to light up their switch when the dash lights come on. I did the same thing, but I would have to open up my dash this evening to see which wire on the cargo lamp button that I tapped into.

The 3 wire switch runs to a 12v relay. I just bought that switch to give it a clean look

Good maybe you can help me then ive got the same switch and I think i may have similar wiring harness. So I have a few questions for you.

    1. Does your light bar have constant power (as in can you turn it on with out key in truck)?
    2. If so how did you wire it that your switch doesnt light up when there is no key?
    3. did you set up your switch to run off an acc power fuse?

Ill try and make this as short as possible

Ive currently got constant power to mine being able to turn it of and on at any point.
My harness has red black and white wires only

    switch black----- ------black harness
    green----- ------white
    red/yellow (x2)----- ------red

with that combo everything works but the led's in the switch are always on, do you have any pointers? I havent done an add a circuit/fuse wire to an acc fuse yet because I assumed that would take away the ability to use the light with out keys.

If you put both red/yellow wires into the red wire then that is your problem. The red wire is your constant hot from the battery. Read the process I explained above to see where you need to tap the dash light circuit.

I wired mine with the same switch and took my relay signal from my acc/lighter fuse. So i boughy a fuse piggybqck conector and went to the switch, then the relay. now it only works when truck is in accessory mode or engine running. not sure about color or wires. mine was lighted which is one of the switches wires. the color was off and too bright so i just disconnected that wire.

oorah54 I can only assume that would make the light bar unusable without the key then? Also im installing said switch and light in a 2nd gen next to the factory fog light position. That switch also has 4 wires so I think I should be able to tap into that one same as you did for cargo light.

    Sooooo

Im going to hook it up like this, and I know with out you being here you cant be for sure if im right so tell me what you think.

    black to black obviously
    green to red

and I believe my white is the same as the blue on the other W.H. so

white to the red closest to the green

red closest to black to acc/fog light switch

Sounds like you have it right. Obviously without me seeing it myself I can't be 100% certain.

i ran the wireharness to the positive part of the battery and then took the screw off you see on frame to the right of the battery for the ground. it has a fuse inline.

since it is off the battery it can be turned on without the car being on....but only then does the light turn on when you activate it ... if its off the switch is off....

i only ran the 3 wires to the 4 wire switch

    neg
    positive
    light for the switch

Sorry to bring back this thread. So I see everyone referencing the green wire. This is the harness that came with the switch that I'm trying to wire to my LED bar (black, blue, white). As seen, my harness is different, as it is Black, Red, Yellow, Red. Anyone spliced this type of harness?

Question... if you use 3 wires from generic switch and only use 3 wires from the mictuning switch and leave the 2nd red wire not connected. Will the switch only light up when button is pressed? It won't ever light up with headlights on etc... correct?
