Probably best to read through the full brochure, which has a full table of what comes with each trim standard and what stuff is optional for each trim. That way you can be fully informed.

I love my 2016 TRD Sport 4x4. I got all the tech stuff, moonroof, jbl ect... The extra stuff is nice and I enjoy the moon roof again. I have had 3 Toyota trucks and the new one will not disappoint.

The bed is made of composite fiber. Have you seen canoes and kayaks that smash against rocks all the time but nothing happens to them? Yes, they are made with another type of composite fiber. Tough as steel, but lighter and more durable. No worries about rust either. Don't knock it, better than Ford's aluminum for sure.

I was on business travel and got a call from my wife's cell phone. I answered to find some nurse at the ER explaining that my wife had been in an accident. Worst plane ride home ever. Good news is that the Tacoma pretty much saved her life. Had I been home, my truck would have been with me and she would have been in her Corolla.

Wow, I didn't know it was your wife in the truck. Hope she didn't have any injuries.

My 2017 TRD off road has no issues. 1,500 miles so far.
    I had a 2011 TRD off-road.

The only problem I have with the composite is that it's so slick that anything you put in there slides around and bangs on everything. Thinking I'm gonna put a Line-X liner in there just to give the surface a rough finish so things don't slide around as much

Or just do what everyone else does and put a bed mat in there, OEM is generally $100 or less if you shop right.

Eh I thought about getting the weathertech bed liner but I think the Line-X would be a lot tougher and look better

Link to Line-X's bed mat? I had a quick look but found only spray-on, or perhaps that's what you mean.

I chose the OEM bed mat since it was $100 after tax vs Weathertech's $140+.

Go with whatever makes ya happy.

I think a lot of the hate on the third generations is completely unfounded. Its a new model so of course there will be things that need to be ironed out, but most of the new features on the third gen aren't actually new to Toyota. Take the V engine for instance, its not a new engine; Toyota has used it for quite sometime in the Lexus. Most of the other new features have been used in the land cruiser, 4 runners, etc.

If you're a motorcycle guy, I'd make sure you go with the long bed though. After contemplating for the past year on a tacoma I went with a TRD Sport DCLB 4WD... primarily because I live in a city, but want some offroad capability. Only two things that annoy me about the third gen is that you cant get a long bed Limited (really like the interior features), and the lack of a manual option for the V6. Oh yeah, and the lack of leather seats as a standard option in the TRD's. Not a fan of the seat upholstery designs, and I like leather because whatever reason I carry a lot of static electric charge.

I should add, I haven't received my Tacoma yet... but I've owned a Tundra and Camry in the past and come from a family of Toyota drivers.

Some might suggest that if you're a motorcycle guy, the truck bed is irrelevant as you'll be riding that bike wherever it is you're going. :D
Now if you're talking about a track or dirt bike, that's different of course. :D

I'm talking about the spray in bed liner. I got a quote for $400 for the platinum so it shouldn't ever scratch, it's a nice shiny black finish like the composite and has the rough texture so things don't go pinball in the bed.

I had no problems fitting my KTM 250 in the DCSB. I had to leave the tailgate down but it fit. My buddy has a track CBR 600RR. I have not tried that yet.

Get a 17 and be happy, they are a good truck. Only problem I had was a slightly misaligned bed, easy fix. Bed mat is a must, don't bother with spray in bed liners.

    Just another take.
I bought a 'Bedrug', its great on the knees and definitely thick enough you could basically sleep on it, aka, nap! Plus it's like next to impossible to damage...see the website and videos.
I also have one on the tailgate.
And I have a Gatortrax retractable cover.
And added some LED strip lights, battery powered, on each side.

I also bought this net from Amazon, which is great for holding things like Propane gas tank for the grille, groceries etc....it's fairly heavy duty.
I keep it near the back of the truck so I only have to open the cover just a little to access.
