I have a question about the recall leaf pack.
I have a 2008, about a year or so after i got it there was tsb that came out, and i got my leaf pack replaced.

I got a letter in the mail several months ago about the recall.
A couple weeks ago my wife bought a 4runner and when she was in there, she mentioned the recall of springs for my truck.
2 days ago i got a call from the dealer, and they said my leaf springs were in. the ones on there seem fine, other than sagging some from the camper shell i have on it now.

when i did my aal, i had to get a tsb aal, will that still work on these other leafs (the ones that are being replaced under the recall) ?
or do i need to get another aal for them ? i remember back like 5 or 6 years ago when i lifted my truck they had aal's for non tsb and tsb, different aal's.

    Dunno.

I was conducting shock research by monitoring temperatures as I beat the living crap out of them and didn't know the upper range of safe zone. I didn't want the seals to melt... Bilstein engineering said for the B110, I should stop when they get to 200 degrees, I think. Please don't quote me on that figure, it was 200 something and i didn't write it down unfortunately, was over a year ago we talked.

Ah, okay. So their warranty covers more of a shock "failure" than shock "fatigue". That's what I figured was the case, although I have read that the 6112's are rebuildable by Bilstein.

newb question here, but do the Dakar's replace all the current OEM leafs? or are you adding them in supplement to the stock setup?

if I add dakars to stock suspension, will it keep the "taco lean" or will it jack up the rear?

Dakars completely replace the factory leafs.

thank you sir! Is the consensus that Dakars are just more stable and have a longer life than the OEM leafs?

I have had my 4rd gen for about 5 months now, and notice it is leveling out already.

More stable, better quality, more load carrying capacity..just rust easily and squeak a little but, overall, VERY satisfied with them

Dang man, 4rd gens must be top secret. :D

    In short:

Tacoma factory leaf springs are very light duty, not designed to carry a heavy load, will eventually sag over time.

Dakars corrects that, they're stronger, carry more weight, and also add approx ~3" of lift when installed.

I read it. It's a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. Wear and tear not covered.

I have some 6112's in my garage for 4 months now. :anonymous: Hope to get them on in the next 60 days lol

well id like to go with dakar, but I just bought the STANDARD rear 5100s a few months ago. Son of a..

anyone running these with dakar? I'm just looking 2-3" lift in the back since I lifted the front 3" already and my 1.5" single aal isn't cutting it. Only running about 50lbs daily

I am sure there are a few people that do run the 5100's. I was running the full OME kit thought because the shocks were designed with the leafs in mind. I am sure you will be fine with the 5100's.

@Crom found this on polyurethane. "we can treat them as linear materials in deflections up to about 15-20%" from this article. More than you ever wanted to know about polyurethane. I will do this mod eventually, and before i do i'll spend some time with the bump stop, my arbor press, and a scale. :)

I downloaded the guide and reading a bit they say for impact service you should not impart more than 50% strain (deflection) on a polyurthane bumper... so if the engineers did their job on that bump stop, you could assume that's near the compressive limit.

I had a Fedex train derail when I had my Relentless fab bed bars shipped to me..I was so worried they would show up twisted and mangled..everything was fine though.

That could be useful info for sure. From my experience, not all poly is created equally. Manufacturers have a hardness scale (durometer) that they specify at time of manufacturer.

Even with the super bumps, the front bumps and rear bumps are made to a different durometer. I can't remember which one is softer front vs. rear. Wheelers could tell you for sure.

    50?

I think Dakar are 70 lb. stock. Mine weigh 84.5 lb each, with D29XL, and a small hunk of aluminum for an axle shim.
