I usually like to stay on the lower bands, because a lot of guys have their antenna too long, so lower band performance is best. We'll decide at the meeting point.

Sure have, my cb is tunned perfectly. I do find the ham way better.

Yeah, when you buy your antenna (usually the mag mounts), the SWR is a lot higher on Channel 40. I keep hearing HAM is way better from a lot of guys on here. What do you like about it?

The clarity, the range, sound quality. I feel its just far superior. I know a lot of guys that run both but are happier with ham. It is more expensive though..

Yeah I've heard you can talk to people in other states. I don't think I'd ever have a need for that though. Is the license a one-time thing or do you have to retake the test every year or something?

After a 3.5 day wheeling trip this past summer, and a few Slickrock trips, the Firestick is just for decoration now. The clarity and range of these little radios is amazing compared to CB. Sounds like you're on speakerphone on a cell phone. It was on for about 12 - 14 hours/ day and the battery still had about 50% left.

I bought the $4 speaker/ mic for it, but haven't tried it out yet.

A Yaesu is definitely on the list for the future.

If you guys want to try them out, I'll be at a jobsite in Mountain View in the morning or maybe @DannyBFresco can meet up and I'll hand them off. I have the BF-F8HP and a UV-5R.

OK I'm stoked, so where is the meeting point?

Just kidding...I am running stock suspension and street tires, no CB or recovery gear of any kind. Noob status, is that all good though? Is there anything I should pick up before I leave?

Any help is appreciated! Thanks guys
