Mine started making noise again last night, and can be felt in pedal too. Just had the TSB done a few months ago... I could club a baby seal over the agitation of this. Ruins the driving experience every time you use the clutch. You can feel the groaning in your foot.

I put thick white lithium grease in the pivot point for the cmc-rod and pedal, last night. Seemed to help this morning, but not totally

I had the same problem in my 2013. I loosened the 2 nuts of the clutch pedal assembly on the firewall and then the spring tension shifted everything slightly. I tightened everything back up, added a little lithium grease to the shaft and it hasn't squeaked since. Not sure if this is the fix for everyone but it worked for me. It's worth a try and it's free.

I have a 2010 5 speed Tacoma. Creaking clutch was terribly loud. Lube helped for a few minutes, that is all. The trick about turning the bolt on the clutch piston worked like a charm, and like others have said, it is like a new clutch - smooth as can be!

Hi all, throwing one more possible fix out there. On my 2010 it turned out to be the "faces" of the spring-coils creaking as they rotated against each other. Since the spring isn't a normal linear-pull, but instead rotates as you actuate the pedal, after a few years the dust/dirt led to a very loud, uncomfortable, annoying and difficult to find creak.

The fix for me was taking a glob of white lithium grease (might be better options out there) and working it into the coils of the spring (it is up above the clutch pedal and sits horizontally) while actuating the pedal. Once the coils were lubed they no longer caused that terrible creak and everything now feels smooth and new!

Only took me a few years to finally try greasing that thing... but when it doesn't seem like the culprit it's hard to just go greasing it!

Good luck to all and keep at it! I can't tell you how great it feels when you finally track that stupid thing down!

I tried that one, tried twisting the rod, I tried them all and nothing worked until I squirted a little lithium grease in the bell housing boot. Succees! It seems there are about 9 different places this thing can squeak and (at least for my ears) it's hard to tell where the sound is coming from.

Now I'm noticing a slight rattle where the seat belt connects to the cab behind my head...

image.jpg The boot on the right. It is on the side of the tranny under your seat. Amazing how the sound is transmitted through the hydro line. Spray in a little lithium grease, put the boot back, and enjoy a quiet clutch.

I got the TSB done on my 2013 in February. So far no problems - clutch feels great and doesn't make a noise

My pedal had started creaking within the first couple thousand miles, I used Dielectric Grease and it lasted till the other day. I picked up a little packet of ceramic disc brake grease in hopes that it will withstand higher temps.

I also had this problem and tried tightening the push rod with no success initially. However, I noticed today while driving that the squeak is gone completely so I guess it ended up working after all.

So far so good on mine using the high temp brake grease.

Have the same problem on my 2015. Took it in yesterday to the dealership and of course it happened to be a cool day and they could not recreate.

    uf20wop,
Do you know if the TSB you used covers the 2015 model as well?

    Thanks

Just an FYI for anyone looking for the TSB for 05-2014. Here it is. I don't think they have updated it for 2015 as I can't seem to find anything.

I also have the squeak. It started around 5k miles. It began to get annoying as other have stated, typically on the way up, not down. I sprayed a little wd40 in there, where the shaft enters the cylinder, and it didn't really work well. However, I noticed that my shaft and bolt (as noted by the green arrow in my pic) have a little play in twist, left to right. Not much. I can't exactly tighten them by hand. When the squeak comes back, I just twist the shaft left /right a few times and the squeak goes away for a day or 2. It's odd. Just wondering if I can tighten this in some manner without damaging anything. Thanks!

Have the exact same problem in my 2010 6speed.
I read all posts, and what I can surely say is that the 1/4 of a turn works along with lithium lube. Obviously not a permanent solution but a temporary one. So I don't have to blast my subs to drown out the very annoying creak. The squeaky pedal was intermittent over the years and and seemed to be at its worst in hot weather, not cold. stupid weird but thanks Toyota!

How common is the squeak? I test drove a 2011 Tacoma yesterday that had it. The seller hadn't mentioned it before hand. I'm pretty handy and feel like I could track it down and solve it, but if I can't correct it that would be a deal-breaker for me. Not going to drive around with that noise. Sort of turned me off to the manual transmissions...

My exact situation on my 2013 5-speed. Try using silicone spray lubricant, it works much better and for much longer than WD-40. But yes, after spraying it in that part you have the green arrow pointing to, you have to spin that shaft around a few times -- to work it in I guess. I've heard that lithium grease works best, and I'm planning on buying some soon to try it out.

Actually, the squeak came back for me. It lasted all winter long. It was not too bad through the cold months, but now that it is warming up, it sounds like a squeaky rocking chair and it drove me nuts.

So I brought it in to the dealership a couple weeks ago, they sprayed lithium grease on it and it didn't help. They ordered parts and replaced the whole thing this week and now it's perfect. It's like a whole new clutch, very smooth and feels great. No more noises.

I'm hoping this holds up. Time will tell.
