I have some winter wheels where the center cap bolts have sheared off flush with the wheel. Can I just drill a hole into the stuck bolt and just tap new threads the same size as the replacement bolt (which is the same size as the original)

I don't have a pic of the broken one as it's stored away at the moment, but here is a seized one that didn't break :)

i would drill them out and retap them. Remember, a little oil will be your friend on those. If you can access the screws from the other side, you could try to drill them so they can unscrew out the front if they break loose while drilling. Best of luck

I would try an EZ out first. If you do drill the bolt completely out, look into helicoils or keyserts to replace the drilled out threads. Is the hole a blind hole or through hole?
