I have a 2012 SR5 package Tacoma, and I'd to change the OEM alloy wheels that came on the truck to OEM steel wheels. Does any know if the tire pressure sensors from the alloy wheels will fit in the steel wheels?
    Any response is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

You will need to get them changed. The sensors will not be a direct fit from alloy to steel.

Another quick question, i have read that the sensors can be rotated 180 degrees and be used in a different style wheel. Any truth to this or any risks involved ?
    Thanks again.

Any interest in fooling the system? Many will make a pressurized canister and put the sensors inside. The sensors are always under pressure, so the light does not turn on. The TPMS ECU does not care where the sensors are located, just needs to be close enough to send a signal that everything is okey.

My opinion is that if a person is spending in excess of a $1000 for tires and wheels, there is a pretty good chance they are going to watch their air pressure closely...the old fashioned way.

There is also a TPMS delete mod that lets you delete the sensors completly. The ECU is fooled into thinking all tire pressure is normal. This mod requires a resistor and some soldering to make happen. I performed it on my Tundra. I don't think I will ever reverse it.

I'm sure someone will argue that this is an unsafe practice, that's fine. I'll just check my tires every time I get in the vehicle.

You can rotate them 180 degrees but it is advised against as it makes them vulnerable to breaking if mishandled.

I went to the OEM steelies on my '13 Tacoma, the light is on but no big deal.
I had also heard of taking a section of PVC placing the sensors inside, adding a valve stem on a cap and gluing it shut.
Pressurize the tube and place inside the truck.

I actually had done the same thing, I put the 4 sensors in a piece of pvc pipe and pressurized it.
Works great for keeping the light off, but when you travel across the border from Canada to the US and they look through you truck and find the "pipe bomb" in your glove box it raises concerns with the border guards. My fault for forgetting to remove it before crossing the border.
I was just looking to find out if the sensors from the OEM alloy wheels would work with OEM steel wheels.
I'm going to try to put them in the steel wheels, just rotated 180 degrees............. I'm too cheap to pay Toyota $90 each for 4 sensors and $270 to have them programmed to the truck.

Well I am cheap and lazy! I am new to the Tacoma world but old in the car world. I am putting on trd pro's w/ 265 70 17. I am not a fan of TPMS systems and I check my tire pressure religiously. I don't plan on putting the TPMS sensors in the wheels. I have got a 2016 ....... whats gonna happen? I am sure I get a flashing light, any annoying beeping. (I ignored the light on my other car for 5 years)

Biggest problem will be getting a tire change place to change tires. Best bet is to take tires off truck in your drive, then take only the tires/wheels to tire store.

They don't care about sensors if the truck is not there.

Thanks, I gotta a guy that will do it. I am wondering whether I will get some sort of chime or beep for not having them in. I can live with the flashin light.

Lower your air pressure on purpose and you will know what alarm comes up. I don't have a 2017, so can't answer for you.

If you swap to winter wheels/tires without TPMS, ignore the light for a few months, then put the original wheels/tires with TPMS back on in the same positions, will the system still need reset, or will it just work?

It might even not trip if the tires are stored near the truck off season.
