No elk. I did however cave in a quarter panel and break the rear bumper. This is why I have never purchased a new truck before.

I was driving up a two track this morning at 0400 and two really nice Muley bucks ran across the road. I turned into the brush a bit so I could shine the lights on them. All was fine until I went to pull away and swing back into the track. Then I heard that sound of rock on metal. I looked at my wife and said that's going to require body work. She didn't believe me until it got light out. Must have been a BFR (big fucking rock) hiding in the brush.
Oh well. I hope the repair bill is high enough that I can get the body shop to fix the quarter panel and I'll just replace the rear with a steel one with a tire swing out. :fingerscrossed:

Well I'll be dropping off my truck at CBI off road in a couple of weeks. They are going to cut off the quarter panel for me and mock up a high clearance rear bumper with tire swing out and fold down table. Then soon after they should be offering this option for all 3rd gens. Can't wait.

I did the high clearance on my old Tacoma...it's a scary moment when you fire the grinder up and start cutting your perfectly good bedside....really tests your confidence with the cutoff wheel haha.

I forgot to post this here although it is in a couple of other threads. My wife connected with this bull on the first morning of her two week hunt. This is the same bull that I watched all summer. Just shy of 380. Would have been over 380 if he did not break his third fighting.20160903_062852.jpg

So many things to like about this thread! A south to north (at least to 80) through Nevada might be on my schedule next spring so I'd be interested in seeing what route you have planned out.

Thanks! I'm not big on over doing the lift or tires just to look cool. I like to keep my mods within the realm of reality and all serving a purpose.

Well I just droped my truck off at CBI Offroad. They will have it for the next 3 weeks. When I get it back it should have a nice brand new custom high clearance rear bumper with a tire swing out and fold down Camp table. And a new set of rock sliders. It's going to be a long couple of weeks but I can't wait to get it back. Nathan and Kenny at CBI have been great to work with I can't say enough about their customer service.

Damn...3 weeks without the truck? Hopefully you're taking a vacation to bide the time :). Is it so long because they're test fitting a new design?

Guess that's a good first birthday present for her :)
