Mine just did this today once in the morning and twice in the afternoon. Same thing. Heavy rain constant all day. I'm at 8,900 miles so I might wait to 10,000 miles and do it all at once. Shouldn't be an issue until then, right?

Check the radio OS version, compare to attached photo.
If the OS isn't listed in yellow.. get it updated for free.

What's that from? Do you have a TSB link?

I'm a tech. It's just a picture of the actual TSB printed out. I keep the USB stick in my toolbox for every 16 Tacoma and Highlander I work on.

Rebooting is the primary fix for this update.

    LOL, awful.
They revised it. Now there's even newer versions.
Likely just for the 2017 year vehicles.
Time to update my USB drive.

Any way to send/attach the files so we can make our own USB drive?

Ummmmmmm, I think the moderators here have a slight issue with that. Should the file get corrupted and your radio bricks during install, then there's a whole liability thing.

dealers can help... and the tech gets paid to do so... sort of.

So I drove mine in about 7 hours of monsoon rain yesterday (areas got 4-5+" of rain) and the radio did not reboot. Quite interesting.

When did you buy your truck? Have you been back to the dealer since? Maybe you already have the update

Got it 9/30. It rebooted 3 times a week after I got it. Hasn't since. Haven't been back to dealer since. Haven't checked update version yet.

Had my truck in for the 10k mile service this morning at a new dealer that I've never been to before after the last one giving me the run around on several issues. I mentioned my problems with the past dealer and the guy said "Tell me everything that is wrong and we will see what we will check everything out and begin to find a solution." Couldn't believe it. So they updated the radio and noted on the ticket that if it happened again they would need to swap out the radio. Progress I guess.

Hopefully they updated with the file off TIS, not the USB drive Toyota sends to the dealers..since that's out of date now.

What I listed last night is the latest. But that being said, I have replaced HUNDREDS of Toyota radios in my career. It's truly amazing really. I may even be into to quadruple digits.

That sucks, seems like Toyota should take care of something like this.

My 3 nearest dealers are all booked out at least a week because of 2 big Toyota recall campaigns going on right now. Glad I don't have to deal with either of those...

I charge customers $30 (0.3hours) to do updates when they're out of warranty. (Radio or ECU)
It collects money for the dealership, and it's still very affordable for them.
Really, how difficult it is to hook up a USB drive or laptop and hit "update". Haha

Nothing I could do, it was the nearest dealership. The other dealership took long to handle recalls or any kind of out of warranty work that wasn't a big ticket item.

Besides I'm not sure if you guys read, but I have an 08 tacoma with the the navi entune unit purchased separately, so yes its an out of warranty work.

I have a 15 off road. I got it last January. Started dong this after about a year. Has become a more often occurring issue lately. Eventually resets its self. Or i can turn off my truck and start it again. It really sucks when I'm using the navigation and it does it while I'm not paying attention to it. I went about 40 minutes out of the way last weekend because of it.
