Hey everyone. I finally got the time and money to get some much needed inner and outer tie rods, and decided today's the day I was going to try to change them.
I got the outer rod free from the nuckle and here's where I got stuck, put it back on and screamed! The jam nut is seized.
    What are my options here?
I've got a saws all with a metal blade, I've got a propane torch I tried heating it but didn't let it get red hot. I didn't want to start cutting unless I was sure I could finish.
I put it back together and tested a bit in my driveway and the steering wheel goes crooked when reverse turning then straightens out going forward.
I need to finish this before work on Monday.
This is a pretty straight forward job but this one nut ruined my morning!
    Please help !!!

Put the outer back on then break the Jam nut free. PB blaster is your friend. Tighten the Jam nut some more before you loosen it. That will break any rust at the end of the Jam nut.

So get some pb blaster on it, keep it in the nuckle and try it? I literally can't get the nut to move at all. A friend told me to a use propane torch...

You won't be able to get it Red hot with propane. But you might get it hot enough to break the rust free

thank you everyone for your suggestions. i had to take it to my local toyota dealership because i didn't really have big enough tools to continue. I am not very happy with the job they did. When i was trying to do it, I took the castle nut off the drivers side. i pounded the knuckle until the outer tie rod came out and it sagged so friggin bad. that is a sign of a shitty worn out inner tie rod am I correct? and it needs to be replaced? thats what a number of videos I watched on youtube said. I told toyota this that I tried doing it myself and the drivers side jam nut was seized and the inner tie rod drooped a lot [compared to the very stiff new ones]. Toyota only replaced the passenger side [the side that wasn't seized apparently] they said they "rarely do tie rods because they don't go bad" they called me mid job asking me if I still wanted both sides done, I said thats why i brought you two pairs of inner and outer. they then scared me with taking longer and charging me a bunch more to do the other side so I only had them do the passenger side because I absolutely needed my ride back for work the next day and it was already noon when they called. I got my truck back a few hours later for $411.54 for a right inner and outer and an alignment, when I got into my truck the steering wheel was crooked mildly but totally noticeable. I was so mad that the encounter didn't go nearly how I expected it to go. I called them back and am awaiting a call back on what they can do to make me happy.
the technician had the front desk lady explain the work he did because who knows what he was doing, hiding from me probably. She said he said [lol] that the drivers side was fine and didn't need to be replaced. they didn't listen to me when I said multiple times that i took it out of the knuckle and it sagged.
To me they seemed lazy like they didn't want to mess with the seized side [it was aligned however] they just wanted to do the easy side [side that did need it] and not listen to me.

anyone have any thought on this? does this encounter seem funky to anyone?

thanks again for all your suggestions - i might get some new wrenches and do the drivers side myself on a weekend.

Thats some fucking BULLSHIT. Ive been working in the field for 9 years. Pure laziness on the part of the tech. What ever happened to integrity and caring about the work one does. I would never blatantly ignore a customer's specific request and then half ass an alignment like that. especially after gouging you for $411. fucking tierods better be made of gold.

I'm just going to address your concern of them "sagging". That's not exactly a valid way to say an inner tie rod is bad. you need to move the wheel side to side by hand. if they are worn out you can place your hand on them and feel the play in the joint. the tech may very well have been correct that they were fine on that side.

With that being said, if a customer was addament about replacing those parts too, I would probably do it just because it's already getting an alignment anyhow. would have cost you even more in labor though.
