so last night,i started my deer hunt packing.

hiking in to some far away spot. my friends have been hiking in to scout and cache water. one guy got a whopper already.

trying to save weight, i opted for my Mora Carbon Companion. i even cut the belt sheath hook off the sheath to save an ounce. that ridiculous knife punches so far out of it's weight class. it loves my water-stones and becomes a scalpel.

i dont even know why i buy knives. that Mora bumps my custom$ 80% of the time. if i was smart, i would sell them all and keep the sub $20 knife. damn.

Also, for any gamers/nerds out there:

Sneak peak of the Fallout "Grip-Boy™" I'm workin' on as a gift for my Brother (in-law). I still have to nickel-plate the beads and figure out how to attach the lanyard (maybe a hole in the pocket clip?) but I think it will be damn cool when it's done. My brother (in-law) is gonna love it.

here is my latest. a clone from Battle horse knives. i had to get the edge way better, but it was easy to do. i wanted to get away from the scandi grind and decided to give this a try as a hunting knife. it's nice. the sheath could be made better, or with more care.

    Very nice !
I was debating micarta when I ordered my igor cf scales but this matches my other fav EDC, 940-1. Just added my first spyderco to the collection, para military 2. Awkward after carrying axis locks for almost 10 years. Super high quality though, and ridiculously sharp out of the box.

Nice! The CF looks good - especially on that pair. I've got a couple knives with CF scales, but the tactile feel isn't really for me; it's too smooth, almost chalky or powdery. I imagine the putnam-style staggering provides a better grip, too.

My "FrankenSkyline". Swapped my Blackwash blade and modified G10 scales with the CF scales and S30v Black blade:

And my LW Hunter in S35vn, and CF scales (I also ended up swapping the G10 scales from my D2 Hunter onto this one):

I've also got one Spyderco in my collection. The Manix 2 XL. It's a beast of a folder, but still pocketable and functional. It has a slightly similar locking mechanism to the AXIS, so it might be one to keep in mind.

Decided to buy the OKC Carter Prime. Titanium frame lock on bearings with D2 steel. It's a little too beefy for me and heavy for my style of EDC. I like my knives a little smaller and 3oz ish and lighter. But the flipping action is amazing.

If anyone has a Sage 1 they wanna trade for mine let me know. I have the Sage 2 and plan on getting the entire collection including the new 5.

If you wanna stick with a (semi) wharncliffe blade in D2 like that, you might look into the composite Leek (1660cbbw or 1660cb).

D2 cutting edge mated to 14c28n Sandvik spine, ultra slim, compact and pocket friendly. Weighs in at 3.1 oz

I had two Leeks and sold both. Hated the pocket Clio and the handle was just a little too thin and small. I'm more of a fan of drop point and full flat grinds.
My #1 EDC knife is my BM940. Thin and a lot of blade for the size. (Not a flat grind or drop point I know. But I love it.)

They're definitely not for everybody - I've got 3 of them, and they find their way in my pocket multiple times a week. My EDC rotation usually includes my Ritter(s), Leek(s), FrankenSkyline, Akribis, and ZTs (550,560,566).

I recently got the WE system from MassDrop. Awesome system but does have it's downsides, small blades are difficult, etc. It's a lot like a Taco... You get the base system, then want to upgrade this, and upgrade that... It gets pricey quick!

Someone just tuned me into this thread- nice stuff!

I've been in Scouting almost my entire life, been collecting knives and woods tools for over 30 years.

Some of the best are in this display-
    [IMG]

Most pretty old- hatchets and sheath knives from the 1920's- 1960's, made by Remington, K-Bar, Plumb, council, Western, Collins etc..

My favorite is a really rare etched BSA stamp Marble's sheath knife-

I've been carrying the same Camillus BSA pocket knife for 30 years. It's the one awarded to me at my Eagle Scout Court of Honor..
