The entire front end of this truck is strange ;)
The hoop is not for everyone, that is why it bolts on.
There will also likley be some filler plates for guys that may not want the 6" led.

I meant more like it looks severely undersized in both size and proportion.

Not adding much protection, doesn't flow with the front end like other designs, and oddly shaped for a light mount, too.

Bumper looks nice though. Curious on the intent of the hoop.. just aesthetics? Seems like unless someone was mounting 7" round lights underneath, it's a very odd piece.

Wouldn't mind seeing it sized for a 30" double row, and no taller than it needs to be for that application.

    Cool stuff, either way.

It's mainly for a 20" light bar, I will probably shorten it a bit and change the angles some.
I had this one sitting around from my 100 series bumpers so decided to bolt it up.

C4 is a great design and it allows you not to have to cut but I wanted aluminum and I really like how the Pelfreybilt overlaps and basically hides the cut making it look really clean. Also it mounts up easy.

I hear what you're saying but take a look at Pelfreybilt's history of making stout quality products.

I am familiar with them and they build an awesome product!
That being said, if you hit the best of bumpers hard enough it will move or bend, I have not seen this bumper in person and was not talking about this one in paticular,
Just pointing out a concern to take into consideration when purchasing a winch bumper.

Your truck and bumper look great btw!

Hey man, if you can send me a photo of your truck at the same angle as our photo, I can photoshop the bumper onto it so you can see!! haha I'll just cut the bumper out in one layer, then I can overlay it on a different truck. Either front-on, or the front quarter angle would work.

You will need to trim the fender flares to install every aftermarket bumper I know of that is available right now for the 3rd gen Tacoma. We are definitely not the only ones that require doing that. The benefit to our bumper is that the flare is the only thing you need to trim. The process takes about 10 minutes, then the bumper is ready to install.

Also because of the full replacement style of our bumper, the full upper hoops match the grille and headlights alot better (In my own opinion of course). All the other bumpers that fit under the original plastic bumper portion that is left behind, have really tall hoops that just look goofy and dont really fit the lines of the headlights.

Your bumper is by far the best looking full replacment bumper I have seen! My concern with the full replacement bumpers is they seem like they would be flimsy around the headlights with the lack of support. That is a lot of metal up there without much support. I have seen many clearance and flexing issues with full replacement bumpers on the 5th gen 4runners (not the c4 bumper) due to there being no way to properly support the upper portion of the bumper, not to mention the extra leverage.
I'm curious of how you guys addressed this issue?
It looks like you have a better gap than most I have seen but have you run into any issue with the bumper contacting the lights or body? I know the body of mine moves a lot and wonder if all 3rd gens move this much?
I mean no disrespect at all as I do admire that you guys have stepped it up and built your own bumper rather than copying every other bumper on the market like most!
    Thanks.

Thanks, no offense of any kind taken. I can understand where your questions are coming from. We initially designed a couple different versions of the bumper that ended up not having enough support built in. The upper corners twisted and flexed a lot near the headlights as you described. We ended up adding a much wider piece of plate that connects from the upright mounting brackets and extends out under the headlights. Then we supported that plate with some extra gussets attaching the bottom side of that plate to the main mounting plate area. Its a bit hard to explain, but that helped support the outer corners of the bumper tremendously and stopped the twisting.
In the attached picture you can see the main lower wing support plates that extend out under the headlights are quite a bit deeper than most bumpers are. There are also some added gussets you can see in a couple places to help stop the
    twisting.
    DSCN2706.jpg

As for clearance, our bumper leaves about 1/2" or more room between the headlight and fenders. Our brand ambassador truck (@TorconTRD ) has seen a lot of off-road use over the last few months and he has not expressed any issues with the bumper contacting the headlights.

Thanks for clearing that up, I thought it was only a few specific winch bumpers!

love the ARB one. I find the other ones all look a bit weird. A lot of them the bar work doesn't line up to me i feel they all look odd. I'll be going with the ARB one eventually. Plus not sure for all the others but some of them are a bitch to get to where the remote for the winch hooks up. At least the ARB has a flap on the top to get to it from what I understand.

The ARB is also the only one I've seen with proper Hi lift points.
I saw in another thread someone with one of the other brands used a hi lift on it and it ended up bending into his fender. Was not rated to be used at all with a hi lift and now caused damage to his truck. Not sure which brand it was but meh. They're all the roughly the same price and I like the look of the ARB to all the others.

Only other one I'd consider is the C4 lo profile one.

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
That was mine a couple pages back in this thread. It's an expedition one, and it has hi lift points, thats how i lifted it. As dissent said, I don't think the actual bumper flexed. Just the entire frame and body flexed. I think any bumper that doesn't leave at least a half inch between the bumper and bodywork would be the same. It didn't cause any permanent noticible damage, the front of the door just contacted the quarter panel while it was on the jack. Doesn't do it anymore. I will keep it in mind when jacking from the bumper but it's not a deal breaker or anything. The main reason I went with the sxpedition one is it was available immediately while the one I really wanted (relentless) was a 6+ month wait. That and I ran over a water pipe and my bumper was damaged up high enough where I had to go with a full no-cut bumper. I like ARB but their bumper for the 3rd gens is too long for my taste.

The cutting is the only part of the ARB that really bothers me.
But from what I've seen it has the best approach angle of all the bumpers, and leaves gaps so you can use a hi lift without it damaging.

Besides I like how its easy to get to the controller hookup for the winch, and I already talked to arb, they said it would be easy to move the block heater hook up into the same location where as all the others unless the C4 lo pro, not sure where I can mount it.

A lot of the others bother me with the bar work. I don't know what it is about them but just the bar around the grill and lights bothers me, maybe its because of the sloping lines and not square lines the bars form but oh well.

I'm not sure about the approach angle on the ARB. Check out post 187 in this thread. Most fabricators will let you choose options such as hoops and light cutouts, etc. They can probably make you one however you want. If you don't need the protection of a full bumper I like the slimlines from SSO. Luckily my winch has a wireless remote, so I don't have to pop the hood to work the clutch or plug in a remote.

    I love the SSO ones.
But the other thing is the ARB is actually the cheapest for me. Since I'm in canada once accounting for shipping, exchange rate, taxes and duties. The ARB I can get from a local supplier for cheaper than all the others which I would have to get from the US.

The only one's I might consider over the ARB depending on price difference is the SSO and the C4 slim line

Quoting this for the picture of the back side of the bumper. On the cbi bumpers, where you see those 2 bottom mounting tabs that go under the frame, theirs corners are boxed all the way to where the 6 bolts mount in to the front of the frame are. Also there is a frame tie in piece that connects to the side is the mounting area and bolts thru at the sway bar mounts, and one thru the frame above the sway bar mounts. The wings are also supported differently, I would not hesitate to use a hi lift on my bumper even at the corners. There are no built in hi lift points, but there ways to make it happen.
