    Ok here is the question. After reading through this thread I need some whiskey but sadly the cabinet is bare. The liquor stores are closed so do I drive my turd gen through the front doors and grab and run? Any other ideas? Anyone else want something while I'm shopping?

    They are great trucks! I love mine and wouldn't trade it for the world. I think a lot of how the trucks run is how you treat it. Treat it good and it will last you!

    everyone complains about lack of power but on all the test drives I've had never felt it was actually underpowered and I've driven 2nd gens.
    Might not have as much low end power but still never had an issue, actually did have more power on the top end so didn't mind.
    I'm used to lag anyways lol I drive a heavily modded TDI with massive turbo lag.

    Did highway test drives too and never had an issue with passing others when I was already going 115km. Sure its no V8 but I had no issues with its power.

    I am pleased with the power 90% of the time. We have a large pop up camper that weighs 3500lbs, then load it with gear, probably 4-4.5. Pull that with a tacoma up White Top Mountain and the thought of a v8 starts to tingle in the mind. I am sure that the folks that pull in other mountain areas can relate. Love my truck so please do not think I am busting on it, is what it is.

    Bought my 16 in March. 13k on the clock now. No issues. I'm pretty happy with the truck.

    I've spent a bit of time working on cars and understand a bit about how they work. I think some people take issue with the higher power band the engine has and the shift happy transmission.

    This truck was designed to run this way. It is way smoother in the upper rpms than the old 4.0. It doesn't have the low rpm torque. If you can be happy with this, you'll like this truck.

    I was referring to how everyone says the 3rd gen is underpowered.
    Comparing a V6 to a V8 isn't a fair comparison. I agree if it comes to towing many will likely be wanting a V8 over a 6 but I won't be doing much towing, and if I ever need to I have relatives that have 3/4 ton diesels that I could use if it was necessary.
    3rd gen V6 and 2nd gen V6 have more than enough power for my needs.

    Ugh. This is really the whine and bitch forum. The majority of people have had no issues, its the minority that keep complaining and bad mouthing
    a product that is still better than the counterparts (GM twins).
    I've had mine since 01/16. Not one issue.
    But I'm sure someone will come along and bash me for that comment. I didn't check the transmission level or zerks or diff whine or blah....blah...blah...
    These trucks are produced by humans and the odd one will have issues.
