Why ?? , is it because of crash damage or fire damage limiting movement of the cable

Curious why would the voltage make a difference? I do respect your opinion Mike, a lot. But am wondering why the difference in Voltage would make difference. And am sure you have a valid reason just trying to figure out why in my mind. Of course yours is a LOT more in tune...

With equipment, you're shutting off the fuel to kill it, not an electric ignition. Of course now there's all kind of wild shit on a diesel motor with solenoids and such that you could possibly have a negative short that would allow it to keep running but it probably hasn't been a problem so why change it. When I started running equipment we still had a few pony motor starters on dozers and CAT 12 graders were all mechanical except for the starter, charging system and lights. So, again, the shut-off was all mechanical. CAT, kamatsu, John Deere, Case and the others aren't going to change anything old and reliable till they have to, including negative shut-off switches.

I'm paraphrasing here but a guy once told me most of what Martin said but also it had something to do with voltage spikes and arcing. Now he might have been full of it but with my background understood his explanation. 24 volts gives a much bigger arc per say in a heavy circuit. However, Martin basically said if it's not broke, don't fix it. If you want a visual look up a Jacob's ladder on you tube.
I know it's way extream but when you throw a switch this happens.
Toyota runs negative switched systems and when something goes wrong on the neg side things stay on.
You really need to disconnect the battery on anything elect esp. on a neg run systems as feedback can be dangerous. We have had reports of guys doing timing chains on the cars and not doing it and since they disconnect grounds you know ground seeks ground. It finds ground through the starter relay and spins the engine over. Fingers have been injured.
So no power no workie no matter what. That's why they cut POS in race cars ,no power inside the car except the battery.

Good Morning Folks! :) The Coffee tastes extra good this morning. Cool Temps! Had my spare tire mounted this week and I added some frame protection to hopefully prevent the sidewall gouges from the frame. After the Coffee I'm going to crank up the spare into its location. Everyone enjoy the Day!

P/S - Andy my Filters Are Clean! :D
