Toyota made the SX Tacoma model in the regular cab from 1995.5-1997, The SX model included the option of the 3.4 V6 in THE regular cab that came with a 5 speed and auto locking hubs. The side body decals were part of the SX package. These 2.5 years were the only time a V6 3.4 was ever offered in any regular cab Tacoma, including the 1st or 2nd gen REG cab Tacoma.
The TRD supercharger was first offered as an option in 1997 for the Tacoma and was the only year the TRD supercharger was available for the regular cab. The TRD supercharger was now compatible with the 1997 ECU 3.4 motors forward. the 1995 and 1996 Tacoma ECU were not compatible with the TRD supercharger and also had smaller fuel injectors.
    SX is std. cab only,
My factory package included this when I bought it new in 1997
    3.4 v6
TRD supercharger installed by Toyota in late 1997
    4x4
    5 speed
    Auto locking hubs
    SX package
    Bucket seats
    Side decals
    Step bumper
    Bed linier
    Center console
    Power steering
Rear-wall carpet (most didn't have it, SX's did)
    Alloy wheels
    Cruise control
    Intermittent wipers
    Vanity mirror
    Tach
    Tilt steering wheel
    Chrome bumpers and door handles
    Sliding rear window
    Am/fm Radio with Door speakers
Not a lot of choices back then
Window sticker was around 16,000 plus 2,500 for the supercharger
Curious to see how many members here have the REG cab 4x4, v6, model with a post with a photo

One could get a regular cab 4WD V6 truck prior to the Tacoma. I've seen a few of them with the 3.0, but they must be equally as rare.

Sorry for not getting pics, the leaf spring whooped my rear on this thing. I had to cut everything off and didn't have ubolts or shackles to replace the ones I cut off.

Anyway she is back together now, but filthy. I have not had a chance to clean it up so give me a few weeks to get it somewhat right

Great post - I came in here looking for more info on my truck/to see how many others were out there. I just picked this up a couple of days ago -- 1996 V6 4x4 Manual with ~74k original miles on it. 100% stock. Glad to see there's at least a couple more kicking around out there.[IMG]

You don't have to be - everything [excluding my guns and my fiance] is for sale if you're interested! Granted, it would be quite the trip for you -- I'm in NC. hahaha

I am looking at getting one of these. Truck is in fantastic shape as it is owned by a mechanic at Toyota. No rust on frame and paint looks new. I am not here to ask if "its a good deal" but rather if these are truly hard to find in great condition and would I be an idiot to pass it up? I will be using it as a daily as well.

Yes, these are hard to find in great condition. You wouldn't be an idiot unless this is the truck you've been looking for...only you can really answer that question.
