New Shaped Skis !!!

I bought my first pair of shaped skis (also called parabolic skis) on Wednesday. I got to try them for the first time today and they are AMAZING!!

I have been using giant slalom (GS) skis for the past 12 years. They are over 7 feet long!! They are good skis but you really have to work them and it getting harder as I get older (sob story).

So, I bought a pair of Atomic D2 9 Titan skis. They are less than 6 feet long with a radius of 16. Man they turn SOOOOOO easily. Their also really stable and don't vibrate. I was able to keep an edge on ice like it wasn't even there!!

They are a real confidence booster!! I was skiing faster than I have in quite a while. I'm buying a helmet tomorrow!! LOL

Anyone else enjoying their shaped skis? What kind so you have and where do you ski??

I've been enjoying the shaped ski's since I've been skiing. I have a set of 12 year old skis that we use behind the truck, but the new technology puts them to shame, plus they are about half the length.

You should have updated the quiver a long time ago.

I ski two sets of skis depending on conditions both twintips, Dynastar Troublemakers (176cm) when there's not so much new snow, and Ninthward Firstbloods (183cm 89 underfoot) when its a little fluffy.

 

Yea your right .. I should have upgraded a LONG time ago. My new skis are 172cm (70mm under foot) and the old ones were 215cm LOL.

 

wife and i just got the new ones as well.our old ones were "1995s".these new one r great.wow,what a differance.

 

Man, you have been holding out!!! I have been skiing on shaped skis since 98. They are so much eaiser than long straight skis. I got a range (8 pairs!!) of Fischer skis from race skis to my fatties that are 96mm under foot. Looks like you make a great choice with those Atomics
