Black Mountain meet. Harlan Ky, Oct. 21/22/23

It's all on you to uphold the honor of the 3rd gen Tacoma's!

 

I bought a 1 year pass last year with the plan on making it back this past spring. Baptist East Hospital made sure that didn't happen.... Pass ran out 1st day of October.

We will be leaving Mt Washington as close to 11 as possible. Taking 150 through B-Town to I75.

 

Where do you buy the passes? Can't find it online.

 

At the gate office. Evarts trail head wouldn't take a debit card last year. Had to do cash. May have just been a one day problem....Putney has a better store, shop, campground, etc....Shirts are expensive though.

 

Guess I'll have to stop at another ATM then. It's 2016, get your shit together Black Mountain lol

 

Sleep time! I'll check in here early tomorrow to see if anyone has questions....

Well next year will be quite the year for them. Landing on the moon and all.

 

One last look at the thread.....We'll be leaving in a few minutes to take our dogs to the vet/kennel. Between 10:30 and 11:00, we'll hit the road. Brent, we'll be at the gas station close to 11:30 (probably slightly ahead of that time) Next stop; Harlan!

 

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to sit this one out man.

Looks like it will be a fun trip though.

Home! The trip was a winner! Great weather (except for the deluge on the drive down and first night.....and the cold wave with frosty morning on Sunday )

Great group! We ended up with just 5 Tacoma's. @tacabode @Brussell56, @fleckosaurus (W/Hannah), @minigrowl, and Father Time....aka, @Bluegrass Taco (w/Sandy)

The rain settled the dust (But we did have dust.....) Trail conditions were near perfect! Per my request, we stayed mostly on green and some blue trails, covered the route from Putney to Evarts, then the looooong way back to Putney. This is year 2 of what I hope to make an annual event. Next year we start branching out to more blue trails.....Getting to know the way around.

I took 278 pictures. So far, I have the best 94 of them ready to start posting. They'll start showing up over the next few days.

In the next few days I will also start planning for Black Mountain October 2017. My wife and I hope to be there on Thursday. (in stead of Friday) so we can settle in and get some rest prior to everyone arriving. We ended up tired and crashing before the sun went down on Friday night!

 

A special shout out to my co-pilot, spotter, wife, and best friend, Sandy! I think I found someone who actually likes this stuff more than I do!

I've got pictures and more videos than I normally take. I don't think anyone got a video of me in the rock garden or climbing that hill by the drunks .

 

I got a ton of stills on the hill w/drunks.....until one of 'em started pestering my wife.....Thought things were gonna get interesting there for a few seconds.

BTW....We stopped by this morning around 7:30 to get our chair we left. Y'all were still sleepin'.

 

Sorry I missed this, looks like a great time. Too bad you didn't have anyone to counter-balance the drunks you encountered.

 

You'll just have to trust us on this one.....You wouldn't have wanted to play point/counterpoint with this crew.....Some real winners....
