I almost wondered if it was people who consider themselves "more" handicapped than other people.

Normally my answer would have been no. But after being with my dad through his last days battling cancer, he still wanted to get out of the house (being house bound was killing him too, he was always so active). Walker, O2 bottle and barely able to stand, I took him to the store, at his insistence.
When I would see what appeared to be people who had placards but didn't necessarily need them, it bothered me.

Yeah. Goes up my ass sideways as well. My 72 yo father has congestive heart failure and when he doesn't have his scooter, he needs to be as close to the door as possible (even if doesn't like to admit it). I see others taking those spots and I try to give them the benefit of the doubt but sometimes I want to cut the valve stems off their tires. Then I think that karma is a bitch and her stage name is FU.

Unfortunately like many many things in life, there's so many things like this parking which is almost impossible to control and organize better when dealing with the majority of people living; so many have no ability to reason, common sense, or much consideration. You could label handicap spots and color them due to severity, then give the affected people their corresponding handicap tag, but that would make a lot more work and money costs for handicap registration.

Just like how people choose to take up two parking spots or sit in the passing lane on the highway.

Yes, there's a lot of abuse.

But do be cautious in making assumptions. What you think you see may not be what's really going on.

    Visualize witnessing the following examples:

My wife tore her ACL last year. Tore it clear off the bone. Doctor put her in a brace, prescribed six weeks of physical therapy before he'd do surgery, and issued a handicapped parking placard.

If her brace was under her dress or skirt, or under her pants, you'd never know she was walking with a brace and a detached ACL.

After surgery she had two months of a leg brace, locked at the knee. When we'd go places, I'd park in a handicapped spot where we could open the door fully before walking her inside. I'd then sometimes either come back out to get something, or I might come back out and move the car to a different non-handicapped spot if most of the spots had been already taken.

When we were done with dinner or whatever, I'd go out and get the car. I'd again park it in the handicapped spot where we could swing her door fully open and then walk into the restaurant so I could help her walk to the car.

Fortunately, nobody was enough of a jackass to say something rude to me or us.

Saw this at the grocery store yesterday. Yes, they're touching. They were like that when I pulled in so no idea who hit whom.

A new bolt here, a new bolt there, a new bolt everywhere.
My wife tried parking far away from the entrance in the widest parking spots available and even with parking spots wide enough to park a car side ways this person still managed to get over into my wife's parking space. Guess he figured osmosis happens to trucks too lmao.

P.S my wife is 2 inches from the curb. 20161020_193512.jpg

Try and park around my Dr's office  People parked EVERYWHERE!! In their defense (and mine :anonymous:) The place has long since outgrown the parking lot.
